A KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER sends us a note about alleged elder discrimination at a local McDonald's . .
"TKC, did you know that McDonald's actively discriminates seniors? They have posted time limits for their customers and they are actively making sure my neighbors can't gather in the mornings. Why are they going to such lengths to form a policy against us. We have supported their business through the years and now this policy is a final insult. You need to investigate this matter. I don't see why they are ordering us out of their restaurant. We are never loud and we clean up every bit of trash that we make. There are worse customers to be sure. There is more to this story . . ."
Actually, there's a lot more to this tragic tale of McElder Abuse . . . It's part of a national trend and the Golden Arches seems to have come to an understanding with their old school patrons:

ReplyDeleteMcDonalds should be glad somebody wants to eat and hang there. No self-respecting young person does. Better selection of food choice is the reason young people opt out. Old people have nothing left to lose. They're on a slippery slope on the way to eternity. Let them eat and congregate where they will.

ReplyDeleteYour tipster doesn't see what's wrong with these seniors going in to not only McD's but many businesses and buying little or nothing and sitting for hours, taking up seats that paying customers can use.
ReplyDeleteLook, I understand the concept the seniors want a place to meet and talk, many are lonely, many meet old friends. But the business is just that a business trying to make a buck.
And it's not just seniors, it's many people young and old that do these things, spend little money and stay for hours.
Let the business run it's business so they can make money. If the seniors don't have a gathering spot they should have it at one of their homes and it should rotate the host duties among them.
But don't interrupt a business man/woman from running their business, it's not fair to them, they have invested heavily and deserve to make an income.
Maybe the seniors should take the lead from TKC and hang out at a Quick-Trip and see how that works for them.
On my rare trips to fast food joints (if I'm starving AND have a coupon) I haven't noticed a dearth of empty tables. In fact most look like morgues except for the drive-through lanes.

ReplyDeleteIt so happens that I ate lunch today at McDonalds, something I only do about once a month. The only customers in the dining area were old men & I was the only one eating. Two men were sleeping. They weren't being hassled. They didn't hassle me.

I often stop at McD on Meyer and Troost to get a iced coffee on the way to work when it's hot out. I always see seniors gathered there, I always throught it was nice... One thing I didn't see- people waiting for tables. When have you ever had to wait for a table at a fast food joint? Leave the seniors alone.

ReplyDeleteI went into a local McD and it was full of seniors. One of them was running a bingo game and the others were marking their cards. I found one of the 2 tables left, to eat my meal. Only 2 of the people had something to drink or eat in front of them. I am a senior, and I was offended.

ReplyDeleteAs for "poor people" eating at McDonalds, it's cheaper to buy groceries at a store and fix your food yourself. It's healthier, too, which saves medical costs, so DIY food is cheaper both short-term and long-term. With an alleged IQ of 129 this should be obvious to you.
