KANSAS CITY FACT CHECK: CITY HALL SPENDS AIRPORT CASH!!!
Here's a look at a clarification for our local political class who play fast and loose with the facts when it comes to their new airport scheme:
Show-Me Blog: "Kansas City does spend airport money on non-airport items. On July 1, 2010, the Kansas City City Council passed Ordinance 100525, which permitted the transfer of $10.2 million from the Kansas City Aviation Department to the Finance Department. This was originally set to be paid back, with interest, by July 1, 2013.
This is legal, we don’t suggest otherwise. But it makes hollow the claim that there is some sort of “firewall” between airport funds and city funds."
What's really fun is that Mayor and Council quickly forget their economic slight of hand and they're bound to make this mistake at a public meeting . . . Now TKC readers have a gully reference to FACT CHECK their
lie misstatement. Natch.
