KANSAS CITY FACT CHECK: CITY HALL SPENDS AIRPORT CASH!!!

Here's a look at a clarification for our local political class who play fast and loose with the facts when it comes to their new airport scheme:

Show-Me Blog: "Kansas City does spend airport money on non-airport items. On July 1, 2010, the Kansas City City Council passed Ordinance 100525, which permitted the transfer of $10.2 million from the Kansas City Aviation Department to the Finance Department. This was originally set to be paid back, with interest, by July 1, 2013.

This is legal, we don’t suggest otherwise. But it makes hollow the claim that there is some sort of “firewall” between airport funds and city funds."

What's really fun is that Mayor and Council quickly forget their economic slight of hand and they're bound to make this mistake at a public meeting . . . Now TKC readers have a gully reference to FACT CHECK their lie misstatement. Natch.

Is this 10 million money that could have been fixing some of the items we all saw in pictures here a while back as the reason we need a new airport?

Yup.

So what happens when the Van Loh bank can't give the James and Johnson Railroad money anymore because he just bought a new airport and can't afford to pay for it?

Typical Troy Schulte "creative" financing. Dig some more, you will have enough to fire that lying POS.

TIF projects? So we have to borrow money to prop up the failing P&L district. Who are we going to borrow money from to prop up the airport?

I think the feds have something to look at here.

Schulte has been doing this BS for years and everyone in CH knows it.

If Van Loh does not grab ankle and sing happy birthday, Schulte will make him take on ever more incompetent staff.

Mr $160k a year assistant city manager world just testify it's a "bookkeeping ordinance"

Could this be Russ johnson "cash" for the toy train?

A new Terminal Project would substantially increase the opportunities for City Hall to "borrow" money from Aviation. And OF COURSE it will be paid back (wink, wink). Also explains why VanLoh hasn't been canned for the terminal fiasco. His job is bought and paid for!

Could not be more wrong on facts Mr. 1230.

Do people simply pull this crap out of their ass and then believe it because they see it in print on TKC?

If the media or Feds would dig, they would have enough fraud to have Schulte arrested.
