This one comes from a rather paranoid insider but the info is good and easily verifiable for just about anybody who knows a KC Star worker bee . . .
PANIC AMONG KANSAS CITY DEAD TREE MEDIA DENIZENS: WEB TRAFFIC FOR THE SO-CALLED PAPER OF RECORD IS ON THE DECLINE!!!
In fact . . . Insiders showed us a few stats that reveal, from last year the pageviews and unique user data is down a few million visits.
Today might be better/worse given that the weather will make the paper a bit harder to get a hold of . . . Here's a link to the help line because TKC is a nice guy.
When your content sucks, your content sucks.online. TV news stations are providing better coverage nowadays.
ReplyDeleteNope. Traffic is up double-digits, percentage wise, in every category - page views, local DMA, unique visitors and overall visits.
ReplyDeleteGlad to straighten you out. Nice try.
When did the pay portal go in (not that it works)? That would certainly affect numbers. My visits are way down. The good news is when they convert their $200,000,000 press building to condos, we might get some traffic at P&L.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's up year over year, not down.
ReplyDeleteSo, yes, get your Kansas City Star news from Tony's Kansas City, who was the FIRST to inform us that The Star was going to stop publishing as many as three of their daily editions!!!
FIRST! Five years ago.
ha ha ha ha ha ha.
I know The Star bugs you dude but to make stuff up about them is pretty childish.
p.s. hahahahaha.
I can't remember specifically why or when but sometime about three years I stopped going to the Star's website. Occasionally I'm sent there by this or that link but, generally,I find the local tv stations' writing to be on par and more timely. As fast as national news, I've not looked to the Star for several years but I'm not sure that they are attempting to be a source fit that market.
ReplyDeleteWasn't for the links in here I would never go there. To be honest Tony I hate when you do link there.
ReplyDeleteMore pics of girls like this. Less pics of fat chicks.
ReplyDeleteThe Star, like most newspapers, has laid off most of its more talented journalists. The ones who are left no longer get decent benefits like an employer-provided health plan and pension. Nobody with half a brain wants to be in newspaper journalism anymore, not that there are any job openings to apply for anyway.
ReplyDeleteAs a consequence, content-wise, the Star is a shadow of its former self, so naturally the web site is thin on meaningful content too. Sad, considering that it used to be the most influential newspaper in two states.
I canceled delivery of the paper except for Sunday weeks and weeks ago, but the paper is still being delivered every day. And the only reason to get the Sunday paper is for the ads, Star Magazine and House and Home.
ReplyDeleteFor awhile there, they would direct your click to see a news story to some SIGN UP PAGE.
ReplyDeleteWell fuck that. And fuck the KC STAR.
This is all karma for what they did to all the carriers years ago.
Tony's Kansas City "traffic"
ReplyDelete- 33,546
Most bloggers will be standing behind the counter at Quick Trip in about six years.
ReplyDeleteLiberal fag rag...no one cares!
ReplyDeleteKC Dead Star......sucks ! Star and Abra-ca-dabra are done. Nobody listens to that Arab dipshit.
ReplyDelete8:41 Did you call just insinuate that Hoops is a less talented journalist than others?
ReplyDeleteThey need 90 like Hoops and have a free portal.
ReplyDeleteI like Tony's KC...
ReplyDeleteI like Tony's KC as well.
ReplyDeleteFuck KCC, but then it's ran by a hack that failed at the Star. So see what happens to ex Star writers. They team up with the likes of Glazer, Wilson, Valentine, the Wienie Whiner, and some dude name Sutherland who acts like he is really someone. Mean while Hearnie said fuck it, I failed at the Star and the Pitch I am moving to Lawrence so I can rip that newspaper as well with my new wife and her wok. But first have to hang out in Topeka a while so I can shit on that place every chance I get as well. But then
who knows maybe Brownback threw him out.
What we really need back is the Westport Trucker. Now that was paper for all.
All of the KCC mentions are just Hearne trying to promote his site on here. Hearne spends most of his day reading TKC.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fucking shame. I liked his effort to cover Lawrence, where he lives. Too bad he didn't stick with that, it would have been interesting.
Faced it Hearnie got ran out of KC. First the Star then the ex.
ReplyDeleteTony, did you know the Star had a meeting about this post?
ReplyDeleteThose guys are more than scared.
What is KCC ? Ol Flint not real hip. From what I can piece together it has some douche bags over there that may need a little humor.
ReplyDeleteLOL. nice avatar.
ReplyDeleteThe Star is sooo skinny that it is actually anorexic. They have lost all the dead tree readers, and now they are losing all of their (free) online readers. Good Job KC Star.
