TKC SCHOLARLY QUESTION: SHOULD WE PROTEST TO SAVE OUR UNACCREDITED KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS?!?!

My favorite Woody Allen quote pretty much sums up my feelings about the struggle to keep Kansas City control of our worst school district:

“There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions." Well, that's essentially how I feel about life - full of loneliness, and misery, and suffering, and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly.”

And that sentiment leads us to this Kansas City morning headline:

Rally planned over KCPS recommendations

Basically, a group of people with their income and connections pretty much tied up in the district are going to desperately fight for control of a District that doesn't work simply because it's theirs and without much concern for students or the hope of achieving anything better than upbeat presser copy.

The Bill Gates Foundation education study group results come out later today and it's unlikely they'll find a better solution that doesn't involve a match and lighter fluid.

Developing . . .

  4. What I find interesting about this "rally" is how selective the invites were to participate. You would think they would want as many people as possible who agree with their position. The reason they were selective is because although many of these people have the best intentions they are being puppeted by members of the school board and in particular, Airick West. They hold meetings at school board member Carl Evans home and the meeting is attended by several school board members. However, if you dare to breathe one negative word about their God Arick, you are kicked out the cult. This is a noble effort, however, I feel sorry for the nieve parents being used by West as a way to keep him in office and help him get to the next office.Oh avid then there is that woman Jamike who will to anything for West because he finds ways to get her money and yes, sometimes district money. I think if you look at the group going to Jeff city you will find she is the only black parent, when there are hundreds of black families that want to keep the district in tact, disagree with CEE Trust, but weren't included because they disagree with many of the decisions West has made and want him out of office. The rest of the parents are all white and the majority are from Brookside Walso, the only people left still drinking the West kool-aide and the only people who will still vote for him.

And when the state gets its hands on the schools, new and unknown grifters will appear.

And in the time it takes for faux smiles to fade, the beat will go on.

The politics of educations is controlling the contracts and getting said money into the pockets of their handlers.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss 'cept for names it all remains the same.

  9. 8:31 am is right on the money.
The KC School District hasn't been about educating young people for many decades.
It's all about grifters, fake contractors and consultants, employing unqualified family and friends, and who's running the show.
And a show it is; a publicly-funded carnival.

  10. It's odd that the MORE 2 organization has been the front for the pushback against DiCastro. And that that group is also being paid as part of the NoVa anti-crime fiasco.
Does anyone know what these people actually do?

  14. CEE report looks good. Only people that would complain would be the board, because it looks like they are mainly cut out of this. Check kshb for full report.

But give credit where its due!
