This afternoon we're featuring an EXCLUSIVE AND ON THE RECORD quote from an East Side leader who is holding council members accountable for their recent votes on a controversial measure to eliminate the discriminatory at-large council districts.
Clinton Adams is a local lawyer, a high ranking leader of the Freedom, Inc. PAC and a longtime activist in Kansas City's African-American Community.
Together with the Black/Brown Coalition, Clinton Adams has worked and lobbied for a measure to eliminate Kansas City at-large council districts given their inherent racial bias against minority candidates that can be easily demonstrated by looking at the ratio of at-large council members of color compared to their white counterparts - Hint: 5-1. There's a lot more data that proves this point but that example seems pretty obvious for right now.

We were lucky enough to speak with Mr. Adams this afternoon and not only did he confirm that members of the Black/Brown Coalition were soon to reconvene in order to determine the best course of action from this point on but also . . .
CLINTON ADAMS EXPRESSED HIS TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE VOTE TO KEEP THE CHARTER CHANGE OFF THE BALLOT AND CALLED OUT COUNCIL MEMBERS MELBA CURLS AND PASTOR BROOKS!!!
Here's the word from Clinton Adams:
"This level of betrayal is really unprecedented. They told us that they would support it but then backed down at the last minute. With their votes, our measure would have been successful and least been put on the ballot to let voters decide . . ."
Clinton Adams has a vast array of contacts throughout Kansas City and he says the feedback that he's getting about these two council members has been almost completely negative.
"They've done a less than adequate job representing their districts. This was simply the last straw . . . "
Clinton Adams said: "One of them is a pervert and the other is an imbecile. They should be ashamed of their voting record."
Yes, TKC asked him twice if he wanted to go on the record with that comment and he said: "Yes, this is all on the record."

Don't think for a moment that the fight against the at-large council districts is complete . . . But more interestingly, it's clear that political denizens of the 3rd District and Kansas City's minority community in general are fed up with their current crop of elected leadership and that will undoubtedly make the upcoming election season rather exciting.
