TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY POWER BROKER ENRIQUE CHAURAND WINS CITY HALL CONTRACT!!!
Kansas City insiders know Enrique Chaurand as one of the most savvy and skilled political denizens this town has seen in a generation.
Mr. Chaurand has been a force to be reckoned with in local political and consulting circles for nearly 20 years. After a successful stint at Swope Health Services, Mr. Chaurand will now work with City Manager Troy Schulte. The job title is "neighborhood liaison" but that doesn't really do justice to the HIGH POWERED CONNECTIONS that Enrique Chaurand brings to the table. Mr. Chaurand has worked for both the President Clinton and President Obama Administrations - Most recently serving as speechwriter for Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis.
There was a bit of a ruckus regarding Mr. Chaurand's contract (reportedly $60k) amid City Hall belt tightening but after an EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS interview with TKC . . . We were reminded of this power broker's next level game that extends beyond the civic small pond of 12th & Oak.
What will Mr. Chaurand be doing with the KCMO City Manager's office? Of course there will be some neighborhood outreach and maybe a bit of advocacy but Mr. Chaurand's talent lies with making executive biz connections and his focus seems to be reworking the KC To Mexico biz office, concentrating on International relations, trade and tech collaborations with the Mexican Consulate and even working to reestablish our sister city relationship with Guadalajara in order to expand trade and arts partnership.
"I'm really excited to be working in the City Manger's office and I'm hopeful that my work will not only help Kansas City expand its role as an international business force but also make important connections that are out there in the community, the Obama Administration and among small business," Mr. Chaurand said.
We're reporting this one because there's a lot of behind the scenes talk at City Hall regarding this hire from the City Manger - However, what we're seeing is a smart move that brings much needed executive talent to City Hall.
That tie is kinda sweet.

Mr. Tony, just how do these guys always seem to land on tax-payer supported higher ground? If this man were on the private sector side he would be on the phone begging his congressional representative to PLEEEZE extend the unemployment benefits for those on long term unemployed status.

There's a hiring freeze when they want one, but there are exceptions when they want it, too. Hiring freezes are just for the little people. Its an old song sung in many cities & offices.
