TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDERS FEAR THE UPCOMING CITY HALL BUDGET CRUNCH AND MISSING RED LIGHT CAMERA MONEY!!!

Behind the scenes Kansas City's budget situation is growing worse by the day and City Hall is abuzz with money worries just like everybody else looking at their January bills.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS FEAR THAT MISSING RED LIGHT CAMERA LIGHT CAMERA REVENUE IN THE AFTERMATH OF MISSOURI COURT RULINGS WILL CONTRIBUTE THIS TOWN'S BUSTED BUDGET!!!

Here's the money quote that should put some of the upcoming City Hall budget debate in perspective . . .

"Besides the $10,000,000 extra dollars the city will have to put in for the new pension program, it could lose 4 to 5 million that was anticipated this coming year from the red light camera program."

This potential for missing revenue is causing a great deal of panic from politicos who know that City Hall finances aren't as solid as some would like to believe . . . Meanwhile, Kansas City keeps looking to spend on junkets for the toy train and all sorts of frivolous deals . . . We'll have more on that in a bit . . .

  1. TKC, the solution is simple.

    Just raise the E-Tax!

    1. You say this out of sarcasm but I really hope the ol' Mayor isn't reading this. This is obviously something he's already pondered, and now he can say he has community support!

  2. Sly will fix the problem with yet another tax increase.

  3. How money is budgeted doesn't mean a whole lot anyway. If some bright shiny new thing comes along sometime during the next year, this crowd will just pass emergency ordinances to take the money from one place and spend it however they want.
Until all the cash is gone.

  4. So did we ever account for that missing $15,000? It seems the only people held accountable in the city are the blue collar workers. The politicans apparently answer to nobody.

  5. Let's see: 12-million to an out-of-town group to fix the water department, 2-million to "study" streetcars, 20-million for a soccer field and village, 100-million plus, plus, plus for two miles of streetcar, billion dollars for a new KCI, several billion dollars for new sewers... oh, this will end well.

  14. The money is not missing, TKC. It was stolen. Check the City Attorneys Office and the Finance Department. Those crooks!

  15. Hey! I've got an idea that is rather novel around here. What if the city learned to live within it's means and keep it's nose within the realm of governing only? No pet projects, no toy trains, no stadiums, no tourist traps, no museums, no party districts, no shopping complexes, no competing with it's own citizens, no competing with local businessmen and women - just being a local government without the grandiose agenda. I wonder if the city could manage itself then.
