Now we've covered a bit of this before in as much the debate over Kansas City Public Schools has become something of a class struggle with elitists and their deep pockets fighting teacher's unions and the administration for political power and funding first and foremost with the interests of students as little more than afterthought.

ReplyDeleteMORE 2 is nothing but another nonprofit group that has no real responsiblity for much of anything and certainly no expertise or experience with education.
ReplyDeleteJust like they bring nothing to the NoVa anti-crime efforts except yet another way for the city to spend money making believe that somebody somewhere is actually trying to do something to curb the violence.
If Sly wanted to include every activist, group, nonprofit, or self-appointed neighborhood expert in meetings about the KCPS or any other issue, he'd have to hold them at Arrowhead to have enough seats.
It's one thing to be interested, but something enitrely different to actually be informed and most of all, to have any responsiblity for the results your ideas and suggestions.
Not only should most of these groups be ignored. They should be defunded by the governments, foundations, and corporate groups who waste money funding them and giving them their platforms.
Can ANYONE seriously support the KCPD status quo?
