TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! AMID KANSAS CITY AIRPORT NOISE THE FRIENDS OF KCI DEMAND VOTER PARTICIPATION!!!

Once again a political discussion in Kansas City is boiling over but seemingly forgets the most important players i.e. voters.

Right now the newspaper is going after the airport director's job in a contest where it's hard to pick a favorite: Yael vs. VanLoh

But more importantly ...

THE FRIENDS OF KCI DEMAND VOTER PARTICIPATION IN THE KCI DECISION MAKING PROCESS GIVEN THAT MAYOR SLY AND COUNCIL HAVE SEEMINGLY PUT A SUCCESSFULLY CERTIFIED CITIZEN PETITION ON THE BACK BURNER!!!

Check the statement:

"I don’t understand why the City Commission is spending so much time on getting the Charter Changes on the April ballot when several of members are opposed to some or all of the changes. Yet the Council seems to be ignoring the airport petition which was signed by over 5,000 Kansas City, MO voters to get it on the April ballot! What’s wrong with this picture??"

This isn't the first time that the citizen initiative process has taken a hit but it would be nice if this crew were given their rightful place on the ballot along with the 5,000 Kansas City voters who also deserve to have their say in this so-called adult discussion.

  1. I fear thay they miht have to talk to Clay Chastain about the council's will to protect democracy.

  2. Thank you for increasing the diversity of the breast sizes of the models on your blog.

  3. Oh, if only the anti-progress crowd (light rail, airport) didn't come off as a bunch of chooming wingnuts.

That Northeast crowd comes off as particularly ignorant, and the KCI crowd doesn't fare much better.

And then there's Colonel Slanders, who sucks them all off.

  4. Editorial, following required corrections:

As the furor grows over the future of Kansas City International Airport, two issues have become pretty clear.

The Kansas City Star needs a new Editorial Board.

And it needs a comprehensive plan for upgrading the staid decrepit newspaper model.

Editorial writer Fael Abracadabra does not have the public credibility to lead on this extremely crucial project.

  5. Perhaps a city charter that says no council member or upper management gets paid if a petition is not placed on a ballot within an allotted time.

  6. As a Kansas bureaucrat, I have watched this play out and offer a few suggestions.

First, the people who suck the life out of the KC administration are lifers who know how to do absolutely nothing and get paid 6 figures in the process. Much of what they do is lunch with the power elite and avoid ANYTHING related to turbulence (smile). ACM.

Van Loh has had the brass balls to be public on this matter and has not hid under Councilmember's skirts while they carry his water. I am not sure whether I am for or against a terminal expansion, but I appreciate someone who has the cajoles to put it on the line and do what he professionally thinks is the right thing.

Does anyone want to pay big bucks to an aviation director that does not have the fortitude to make a hard call? Anyone want Schulte or one of his ACM's running KCI?

No way I would fly into that airport.

  7. Yael doesn't even live in KCMO. Why should anyone give a shit what the little boy thinks

  8. 321+100

Maybe the bike boy who pretends to know infrastucture?

    I'm flying out of Wichita.

  9. Dear Russ and Mark,
Please stop with all the phony comments here and go back to your resumes, we'd like to post our agreement with Yael for once.

  10. Actually, I live in Kansas and used to work for KC. But you would not know that, would you "anonymous"?

  11. I care what the golfing community thinks.

  12. At last Yael is right about something. Van Loh is an arrogant, condescending and dishonest Director. Possibly the worst in KC history. If it wasn't for all of the free trips he arranges (many of which are International) for the Council he'd already be gone.

  13. "What's wrong with this picture?" Opinions proclaimed as fact without any real people behind them.

And yes, Yael is a Kansas City resident. You can go check the tax records to verify it.

So, the usual is wrong with this picture. No facts and spurious allegations.

  14. Sly does what Sly wants. He could care less about the citizens of KCMO.

  15. Hum, a dishonest department director at KCMO. I can name five more AND the king of dishonest and lies, Troy Schulte. But city council is either blind or stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  16. And even before his second term and before the sucking sound from the budget is loud enough for all to hear, Sly's measuring the drapes for his corner office at Polsinelli.
He's certainly spending lots of our money earning it!
