CONGRATULATIONS TO JACKSON COUNTY LEGISLATOR CRYSTAL WILLIAMS ON HER RECENT APPOINTMENT TO BUDGET CHAIR!!!

Now . . .
While campaigning, Crystal Williams made a lot of big promises about her plans to "reform" the Jackson County budget process that have heretofore been ignored . . .
Here's the word from Crystal's website:
*Budget transparency must be a high priority for the Jackson County Legislature. Current and proposed Jackson County budgets must be made easily available such as via the county web site through a prominently displayed link on the county’s main page.
*The proposed county budget should be made available to the public weeks before final action on the budget is taken so the public can provide input and guidance concerning community priorities. At least three public budget forums should be held across the county, allowing the taxpayers an opportunity to voice their opinions.
*I propose implementing a legislative process that is truly transparent. A standard legislative process needs to be followed that allows for ample public input. Handing out a budget internally, holding hearings in which only county employees speak and then passing a budget without public input is unacceptable.
Again, none of these things have happened yet . . .
However . . .
NOW THAT CRYSTAL WILLIAMS IS THE NEW JACKSON COUNTY BUDGET CHAIR . . . WE EXPECT THAT SHE'S GOING TO DELIVER ON ALL OF THESE BIG BUDGET PROMISES!!!
Admittedly, she set the bar pretty low if a hyperlinkon the front page of the County website is one of her benchmarks.
But . . . She has been working for a week and so far I don't see any hyperlink.
Nevertheless . . . During her tenure so far Crystal Williams has yet to champion a single "reform" that she has promised and all that she has really accomplished is to suffer an embarrassing defeat in her run for Missouri Senate . . . There aren't any challengers to Crystal so far but that still doesn't mean she gets out of living up to all of her big talk of reform that has yet to materialize.

ReplyDeleteShe was one of the legislators who voted to waste $800,000 of the taxpayers' money on the high-handed medical tax issue which the public overwhelmingly rejected.
ReplyDeleteIf she wants to make believe she's concerned about budget transparency and responsiblity, she might consider having the courage to actually vote for the public interest in spending their money.

About the only thing CK politicians can do now is try to keep the hordes happy and at bay with all the hopey changey stuff. Or distracted with sports.
