MISSOURI SPEAKER TIM JONES WON'T STOP UNACCREDITED KCPS TRANSFER EXODUS!!!

In this photo Missouri Speaker Tim Jones is showing parents and "scholars" the door to freedom from Kansas City Public Schools.

To wit . . .

EDUCATION ADVOCATES RAGE BECAUSE TIM JONES DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE ABOUT CHANGING THE MISSOURI SCHOOL TRANSFER LAW!!!

This isn't a total win for the GOP honcho . . . Consider: Thwarting KCPS transfers also protects suburbanite districts who fear the onslaught of Kansas City scholars.

On the other hand, Kansas City has failed to achieve sustainable reform for more than a generation and this year there seems to be hope of FINALLY trying something new.

Turner Report Op/ed ... Tim Jones: Student transfer issue is not a big problem

Missourinet: School transfer issue not a top priority for House Speaker

STL Post Dispatch: Any changes must satisfy school-choice advocates such as House Speaker Tim Jones, R-Eureka, who said he's "really not interested in undoing a law that I generally agree with."

Meanwhile . . .

Check this insight from a TRUSTED TKC TIPSTER that sums up the sitch rather nicely . . .

"Kansas City students have the green light to find a new school district."

If you ran a restaurant that had crappy food for decades, people wouldn't want to eat there.
So you fight a law that says if they don't come for dinner, they can take their money with them. That might run you out of business.
Then you force government to declare your food really goo, even though it's still lousy, instead of improving what you're doing yourself.
Focusing on pretty much everything but educating young people.
At least most of the usual suspect snouts are out of the trough!

The plague will continue unabated until the revolution.

Doesn't really matter if its a priority to him since kcps has a lawsuit now to block the transfers. How is that coming along? Any updates?

Thank you, Tom Jones. At least somebody cares about these kids.

The majority of the student in the KCPS are not doing well.

The transfer solution will not help the majority of the students in the KCPS. It will only benefit the students that leave which will likely be below 50% of the district.

In addition, the KCPS will have to pay for the transportation and tuition of students that never attended the KCPS.

Moreover, the receiving districts will have to shift resources from their current student body to deal with the new students.

This is not a viable solution. If the intention is to destroy the KCPS, they should just do it and be done with it.

Turn the KCPS into a Cadet Academy for KC and the surounding metro. Take the remaing 50% of the kids and grow from there

I predict that there will be very few students who will transfer. Those parents who valued education have already left. The babymama's who are left are sure not gonna go out of their way (like arrange for transportation)to make sure their children get a good education.
If she cared, she would have moved the family to another district a long time ago.

She won't have to pay for transportation, KCPS has to pay. The suburban schools canvassed kcps families and found that if given the opportunity, many families would transfer. Why do you think KCPS is fighting the transfer law so hard?
