Mayor Sly's Reading Program Stays Winning

Newspaper notes an important reading win for Mayor Sly James and maybe one of the few efforts that he's been committed to since a failed attempt to take over the KCPS: Turn the Page reading initiative gets national recognition

This is a good idea, although there are many like it all over the country and Dolly Parton's book program is probably one of the best.
What KC needs to stop doing, though, is defining its success on "national recognition" by one obscure organization or another.
Something like this reading program is either successful or not for what it does for kids, not some award.
