ReplyDeleteA district 85% minority, and 95% free school lunch is in the bottom 100 natiowide, yet just 30 miles down 169 is a district that is 97% white ranked in the top 25%...funny what an assesed value 400% greater than KCK will do for ya!
ReplyDeleteSo I don't know exactly what research really goes into this but I find it hard to believe the Dotte has four out of the top six worst schools in the country. It's like the obesity figures. They are figured totally by number of gyms per capita. It's not very scientific. I'm not saying they don't have some bad schools but I doubt if it's that bad. The guys I knew from Washington are white and graduated in the late 80's and it's probably worse now. Wyandotte was terrible 25 years ago.

ReplyDeleteAll KCK kids take the ACT, a test that is MUCH harder than all but two other districts in the state. The higher standard means that fewer kids are proficient, but on a REAL test, which most districts don't give. So, the list means nothing, and is just trying to make money on the backs of black, brown and mostly poor kids.
