Kansas City B-Cycle Needs More Cash!!!

Like it or not, online begging fundraising is really the only sustainable biz model for the Internets (unrelated to corporate espionage) and this morning we are taking a good look at local cyclists asking for just a bit of help and relying on the kindness of cyclists.

Actually, this is a really great clip:

Be A Player - Kansas City B-cycle 2014 Expansion

Here's the pitch:

"Kansas City B-cycle is expanding in 2014 and they need your help! Help bring new bike sharing stations to Midtown, Westport and the Plaza by contributing to your favorite expansion zone!"

Sadly, the winter fundraising session reminds us that cold weather, ice and so many potholes in local streets makes the bikes mostly useless for most of the year.

Still, we admire the chutzpah of these Kansas City cyclists and their public testimony in hopes of turning Kansas City into a cycling mecca like Paris or Minneapolis. (ugh.)

  1. A good cause that will benefit the health of KCMO in every sense. Also, much cheaper than the toy train with even more good vibes.

  2. Minneaplolis is infected with 60,000 Somali Muslims. Not a great place to go ride a bike.

  5. And when the begging for people to VOLUNTARILY give money to the bicycle cause fails, they'll be heading to 12th and Oak for tax money to fund their dreams. That's tax, as in people INVOLUNTARILY giving them money.
    Just a matter of time.

  6. This organization supports the toy train. Do NOT give them a dime.

  7. A bike, walking organization supporting a streetcar? Would love to know what is going on behind our backs. Is Sly giving our tax dollars to this outfit to buy their support?
