The effort to prevent more Kansas City homicide is already underway . . . Even as we still honor the 106 murders from last year.
Still, depending on how the 100+ murders are spread out this year in Kansas City . . . There could be new additions to the local alphabet soup of KCMO anti-crime organizations that have wonderful intentions but not very many quantifiable goals.
Kansas City Sports Hype Is Always In The Cards . .
Sorry . . . But the Chiefs probably aren't going to win the Superbowl this year. Last year a minor win streak from The Royals was celebrated as if it was the second coming. Kansas City never seems to get tired of this eternal sports tease and tragically, that's why the corporate marketing game continues.
City Hall Cash Scams Will Continue Into The Foreseeable Future . . .
This town's budget remains "structurally unbalanced" because of one $15K scam and so many more that we don't hear about . . . Expect the cycle of ripoffs to continue with very little consequence to the perpetrators despite a bleak picture of our KCMO coffers.
Downtown Development Will Stay Losing And The Only Strategy To Fix It Will Be Yet Another Double Down . . .

Kansas City Public Educations Problems Persist . . .
This could be the year that the KCPS begins the process of being taken apart piece by piece . . . Depending on where you draw your check or where your children go to school . . . This is either good or bad news. But like it or not, education in KCMO is undergoing a great deal of change.
Look for all of these trends to be openly mocked on TKC in the future . . . We plan on covering as much of it as possible.

ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Tony: I agree with your prediction for 2014 that there will be a flurry of new programs to fight crime, We will heard endlessly about the need for better community involvement in crime-fighting efforts. What we will not hear is any proposals that KCPD officers be given due process and fair media coverage if accused of racist misconduct. Until we start hearing such proposals, I don't expect the city's homicide rate to fall much.
