ReplyDeleteWhat will save the urban core is not more money. There's been plenty of money. None of it ever reaches the neighborhoods in this City. There's a group of unemployable old professionals who suck up the resources to fund their lavish lifestyles while the neighborhoods and community at-large suffers. They capitalize from the blight, murders and violence under the guise of anti-crime initiatives and economic development that never pans out because of intended poor planning.... well, they just simply ran out of money when they really never reserved for any meaningful development in the first place. The same names get recycled Ken Baacus, any ignorant, dumb-assed Baptist Church leader, Troy Nash, etc., etc. And the people who live in these areas are too dumb to recognize the cycle and put an end to it. Its all racist and it will always be 1959 in perpetuity.
ReplyDeleteI left a job because the company relocated from South KC to the East side. The company promised extensive security at the job location (We had been experiencing quite a few car breakins and one burglary at our South KC location). We had to security to speak of at the old location.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is that I had to drive there and back home through some very sketchy neighborhoods. No job is worth getting shot or jacked.
