Another beleaguered Kansas City party district erupts in violence overnight . . .
KMBC: Police said two men were injured in a shooting overnight near 18th and Vine streets.
Investigators said the shooting happened after the men were walking a woman to her car. Police said shots were fired after some of the woman's friends started to argue with the victims.
Remember that last year an 18th & Vine shootout revealed that potentially deadly violence has increased along with the crowds around this East Side hot spot that remains a taxpayer subsidized financial drain on Kansas City.

Police investigating three separate shootings outside clubs in Kansas City, Mo
ReplyDeleteKANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City, Missouri Police are investigating three separate overnight shootings that sent three people to the hospital and left one person dead.
Police Chief Darrel Forte responded to the city's latest homicide just after 4:30 a.m. Sunday. One person was killed outside a club at 15th and McGee.
Two hours earlier, shots rang out at 19th and Vine. That scene was in front of an after hours club. Police tell us it started as a fight over a girl. Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Another person is in critical condition - after a shooting outside a club at 39th and Jackson. The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Police tell 41 Action News, despite having many witnesses, no one offered any information.
I was on the Plaza yesterday at 4PM. As I left, the police cruisers were pulling up all over the Plaza in order to the expected increase in traffic from "Scholars" on the East Side.

Once upon a time, I believe support for the black underclass was a result of a sincere desire to help negroes. It was white altruism bubbling through the brains of little old church ladies, excessively "educated" academics, newspaper editors and teary-eyed politicians. It was soft-headed, misplaced sympathy for the plight of the poor devils. They wanted to help.

I recently saw the film Dreams from my Real Father (available to stream on Amazon). In it the authors layout their evidence that Obama was born of the black communist party member, writer, pornographer and poet, Frank Marshall Davis. I'm convinced. It's one hell of a demonstration of just how insidious Marxism and all its attendant themes of class struggle and racism, have been to this nation. We'll get a nice view of where all that early white altruism got us when Obama delivers his State of the Union with his emphasis on income inequality. Pay up Whitey.
Two of the most hare brained ideas that blacks come up with to fight the crime they cause are:

2. Calling for truces
The catch is that either idea is spoken of as lasting only for a definite and short period of time.
If a person who calls for a "day long" or "week long" moratorium on (black) crime actually thought it would work, why not call for a month? A year? Forever?
If a person who called for a truce in the "gang wars," notwithstanding the fact that gang violence is the sine qua non of the illicit drug trade in Bell Curve City, thought that their calling for a truce would actually result in a truce for x number of days, why not call for a permanent truce?
The fact of the matter is that moratoria and truces are all smoke blowing -- People who call for them don't have the power to make them happen. They're just popping off for good media and PR.
KC is screwed.
When people I know from out of town or state come here I have to go to great lengths to tell them what parts of the inner city urban core to stay out of. I also have to warn them to be extremely careful if they decide to go out at night to explore the town.

Omaha City Councilman Ben Gray couldn’t talk Thursday about black homicide rates in Nebraska.
He was at a funeral for his grand-niece, killed at breakfast in her Omaha home last week by a stray bullet.
Payton Benson’s funeral started 90 minutes after a national nonprofit released a report titled “Black Homicide Victimization in the United States.”
Proportionally, more black people died at someone else’s hand in Nebraska than anywhere else in the country in 2011, when taking the total black population into account, according to the 11-page report released Thursday by the Violence Policy Center.
Thirty of the state’s 87,124 blacks were slain in 2011, or 34.3 per 100,000, the report says. That rate puts Nebraska slightly ahead of Missouri’s 33.38 and Michigan’s 31.54.
Well then, hooray for Nebraska! Which is something that people in the formerly Big 12 rival state of Missouri wouldn’t say very often.
Two-thirds of the state’s black people live in Omaha, while an eighth live in Lincoln, according to 2012 U.S. Census data.
The rate of black homicides in Nebraska was nearly twice the national average, according to the report based on FBI and U.S. Census data.
Hawaii, Montana and New Hampshire tied for last, because no one killed any black people in those states in 2011.
Blacks made up 13 percent of the country’s population in 2011, but they accounted for half of all homicide victims.
“Blacks in America are disproportionately affected by homicides,” said Josh Sugarmann, executive director of the Violence Policy Center and the report’s co-author.
The vast majority of Nebraska’s 30 black homicide victims — 90 percent of the state’s total — are like Payton Benson: They died in Omaha. Two others were killed in Lincoln that year, one in Bellevue.
Ninety percent were men.
Sugarmann told people who see the report, including lawmakers, to be informed by the numbers, but not to get mired in them.
“This is not an abstract concept,” he said. “This is real people’s lives.”
He’s right, the ooks are real.

Yes, the majority of blacks in town are peaceful and productive members of the community. KC's crime could be addressed if we held our police dept., our council and mayor accountable for this and demanded better strategies. Maybe look around the country and discover what has worked in similar urban areas??? For the police, their work is their profession and career; for the elected and appointed folks, it's all just a game, a hobby, and a chance to belong to a little club where they have no real responsiblities at all.
So the east side neighborhoods are left the thugs and anyone who can leave continues to do just that.
