Kansas City Mayor Sly James has more than a half million already in the bank for his reelection campaign with no opponent in sight.
Meanwhile check this interesting bit of campaign finance reporting from The Pitch showing out-of-towners supporting the mayor's reign:
Engineering firm Burns & McDonnell made it rain late last year for Sly James' re-election
Money line:
"Burns & McDonnell and its employees contributed $41,650 to James' haul in the last quarter of 2013, nearly a third of his total fundraising for those three months.
On November 6, 263 employees from Burns & McDonnell made contributions to Sly James for Mayor. Of the 266 employees overall who made contributions to James, only 30 (or 11 percent) of them listed Kansas City, Missouri, residential addresses. Most live in Johnson County or Lee's Summit. The firm has about 2,500 local workers."
This is really more of an investment Kansas City will most likely watch it pay off big time when Mayor Sly wins a sorry excuse for an election.
Its a bribe masquerading as free speech.
ReplyDeleteTony I am so god damn tired of seeing Byron Funkhouser’s shit on these posts all the time. He is ruining your site. He is not from around here and adds nothing to this local blog. His insight is hateful as a rule and does not reflect the views of people or events of Kansas City. He has gotten to the point he only posts to incite and anger people for his own benefit.

ReplyDelete>Burns & McDonnell frequently does business with Kansas City, Missouri. On May 28, 2013, the firm announced that it had extended its contract with the city for its federally mandated sewer overhaul. The $20 million contract over five years was the company's largest for its water division.
You scratch my back, I scratch yours.
Bribery is cheap nowadays
ReplyDeleteStupid comments from Byron rejected.
ReplyDeleteSylvester is one "sly" cat who knows how to shake down that tweety bird.
ReplyDeleteSly: "I Tawt I Taw a Pretty Check"
Nice return on investment for Burns and Mac. When do more of the big checks start rolling in from the consultants who got the $12 million no-bid deal for the water department and from the insiders on the "Streetcar Committee" who are cashing in on their won decisions?
ReplyDeleteAnd so many more special deal seekers whose palms are well-greased.
And the neighborhood folks still wonder why they're not in the game?
AGAIN!
When Burs &Mac gets done overbuilding KC's Water & Sewer System no one will be able to afford to pay their water bills...but all those engineers from JoCo will have made a killing off KC citizens while sending their kids to Blue Valley schools!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sly!
Give me a break. Burns & McDonnell is one of the largest KCMO based engineering firms if not the largest...would you prefer projects go to out-of-owners? Graves is one of the most generous philanthropists that was not born into money. Compare that to most other "local" engineering firms that give very little back. I don't even know a single other engineering CEO by name because they do very little besides take. If Burns & McDonnell was the worst KCMO corporation KCMO would be in great shape.
ReplyDeleteI see why KJ is such a douche bag. Just look at his daddy. King douche. Daddy Ape looks like he excaped the primate exhibit at the zoo.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as Burns & McDonnell learns about the trolley it is a safe bet they will be moving their 2500 employees downtown and not even ask for any subsidies from KCMO.
ReplyDelete9:35 so defensive! Employee?
ReplyDeleteThe POINT was only 11% of B&Mc employees contributing to Sly listed KCMO for their residential address!!! So WHY are they giving him money? Why not give the money to a community charity in their OWN community? It looks BAD, it smells BAD, it suggests "pay to play" business contracting.
In other words, bribery.

Thanks again Byron. You need help.
ReplyDeleteIt rains balls!!
ReplyDeleteHave you noticed that whenever I make a comment, most of the following comments are not about the post, but about me. 12:52 is a broken record, & 1:16 needs professional help. 1:33 is a child.
ReplyDelete12:52 When you constantly spam your comment, it loses all validity. I don't think Tony gives a damn about what you're tired of. If you can't see that by now, then you clearly have a learning disability.
Thats what you want sicko! Bat shit crazy, inherited that from the folks as you said. Get help.
ReplyDeleteAnd what are you doing, sicko! I can call names, too.
ReplyDeleteNo, this isn't what I want. I want intelligent comments about the post, not some pathetic little anonymous pussy playing tag.
Meltdown.
ReplyDeleteLame. There's been no meltdown. I'm having fun upsetting ignorant racists.
ReplyDeleteOnly one seems upset is you. Pissant
