He actually lives in the district(like in the hood part), has nieces and a nephew that attend schools in the third district, and wants to change KC for the better. What looks good on paper... just isn't. The fact that he is a lawyer is all I need to know to vote against him.
ReplyDeleteAgree. Jermaine has done his collateral damage and let things go to his head but I think both of these candidates are running for the wrong reasons. Who else is running?
The other issue is that Kansas seems to be his home town, not Missouri. It seems we went through this "I live in the 3rd District" act once before. He may have family here but its doubtful being a full time KU professor that he's commuting daily to KU campus from Missouri. Contrary to popular believe most attorneys aren't earning much money. He's young and just starting out. There's no way he's driving back and forth to Manhattan to teach law classes. That's not even reasonable. It looks like another phony who wants to dominate the 3rd District. Surely, there are people who live, own property and have a legacy in the 3rd District that can run whose last name is NOT Curls.
ReplyDeleteHis educational attainment is to be commended but I'm sick of being beaten over the head with the "I'm better than you" ideology. Where is his volunteer record in the community? What has he contributed to the community? It's not enough to have all of these credentials and have done nothing in the area. We need a candidate that can relate to the people of the Third District not some overdresses, self-impressed lawyer speaking out of both ends of his mouth. We already have those types, many who are already in office.
Quinton Lucas has lived in the same apartment at 18th & Vine for more than 5 years. There will be no residency issue.
ReplyDeleteQuinton is one of the few individuals who enters the political arena for the right reasons. He is not doing it to feed at the tax payer trough or attain power. Hell, he would make more money and have more power if he went back to the private practice of law, where he was very successful. Quinton is doing this because he believes in public service. He believes in Kansas City. And he believes we can be a better and more prosperous community (ALL of us) if we have real leaders in office. Every once in a while we have the opportunity to elect the best and brightest among us. This is one of those times. I look forward to being represented by Councilman Lucas.

ReplyDeleteQuinton, my little brother, is from KC(Born at Truman Med). We lived in Hutchinson, KS for about 5 years. He was is first grade when we moved back to KC. When moved back we stayed in the 5th and 3rd districts.Yes, he works at KU, but he lives down on 18t and Vine. He is way to cheap to pay rent in KC and Lawrence (KU is not in Manhattan by the way). He does community service and services on several boards. I think that it hilarious that he is being called out for being educated. It is amazing that so many people want to keep a do-nothing Reed in office.
