Statement: 'We're all one big family'

Police statement on firefighter deadly shooting . . . Notice the deets are just as we described on Sunday morning:

"During the assault, the subject pinned the officer to the ground and struck him multiple times about his face and head," Police spokesman Capt. Tye Grant said in an email Monday. "Fearing for his life, the officer eventually fired his handgun, striking the man."

Moreover . . .

TKC COMMENT READERS ENJOYED A PREVIEW OF THE "WE'RE ALL ONE BIG FAMILY" REPEATED OFTEN IN OTHERWISE TENSE COMMENTS TRADED BETWIXT COPS, FIREFIGHTERS, GUN RIGHTS ADVOCATES ETC.!!!

It's nice to see that this blog is sort of a launching pad for official statements . . . We'll have a (slightly) more serious take on this one later.

  1. When I shoot my wife I'm going to thump myself with a stick, shoot her and swear I was in fear of my life.

  2. Whatever happened to the use of non-lethal force (i.e. taser or mace)?

    ReplyDelete
  3. gotta make sure you throw in "he feared for his life". CYA.

  4. 3:48 PM the fact that an attack was perpetrated on the Officer and the nature and degree of the Officer's injuries are testament to the truth of him fearing for his life.

You and 3:29 PM need more information before you again post ignorant shit.

  5. Simple, don't try to solve problems with your fists and you won't get shot.

  6. Everbody got quite now that the truth is out.

NO more yappin bullshit in here now.

  7. pinning you to the ground and smashing your fist into someone's face is lethal force whether you want to believe it or not. the injuries the officer sustained confirm this. it a reasonable conclusion to fear for your life based on those injuries. and again, he doesn't have to wait to be killed to respond.

death by a physical assault does happen.

this is basically like a WAY less ambiguous zimmerman case. same type of thing but the facts are WAY more on the officer's side than they ever were on Zimmerman's and look how that one turned out.

anyway, you do not respond to perceived lethal force with less than lethal force, ie a taser or mace.

secondly it's unlikely the officer would have even had a taser. kc officers are not personally issued tasers. the tasers are assigned to a police cruiser and stay with that car and the officer wears it when he or she rides in that car. most offices do not have assigned "take home" vehicles.

  15. Cop is out of the hospital already? Sounds like real life threatening injuries Hubbard sustained.

    ReplyDelete
  16. you all for the most part don't know shit. The only person to blame here is the fireman.
If he would have been sober ,made a good decision and not got into a altercation over a fucking cab fare. He would never have even been on the police radar. He assaulted a citizen he ran from a police officer who was just doing his job. He then got into a physical confrontation with the uniformed officer. Whos fault is it? Really? Sometimes your ass writes checks your body cant cash. Probably saved his wife from some disappointment down the road. He may have been a hero every third day but this night he was nothing more than a dumb drunk whose stupidity cost him his life and probably the career of a soldier and a policeman.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well your honor. Had I known that you were in charge of the world I would have kept my little mouth shit and listened ti your genius. Now Fuck Off dumb shit.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh,fuck!
    I already knew that.

    ReplyDelete
  24. sure ya did

    ReplyDelete
  25. You people are crazy.....the only good thing here is that the officer is alive. How long can you take a beating to the head before you are dead? Just because he is an officer he was supposed to let the suspect beat him.....I bet none of you would have in the same situation. He was given no choice....

    ReplyDelete
  26. It's sad to say, but he got what he deserved. Assaulting a uniformed officer in such a brutal manner is beyond stupidity. It demonstrates a severe lack of respect for the uniform and for his own self-preservation. As a firefighter, he should have known better.

    ReplyDelete
  27. 4:42 PM who are you talking to there is no 4:14.

    Are you lost again fuckwad???

Now go back to the bathroom and relate to yourself some more. You might come with an idea.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 3:42, so the cop should have used non-lethal force to stop a guy using lethal force I.e. his fists? Cops working off-duty jobs don't carry tasers and I doubt if Mr. Bruno would have held off punching the officer to allow his face to be sprayed with mace. The officer's life was threatened and he responded accordingly and appropriately.

Mr. Bruno controlled this situation from the moment he got in that cab, even before that. He controlled the assault and battery of the cab driver, the resisting arrest, and the beating of the police officer. The choices were Mr. Bruno's to make. Unfortunately he made stupid choices and he got himself killed.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 6:44 PM is the final word. Bruno regardless of what a wonderful person he was did in fact control the outcome resulting in his untimely and tragic death.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Are you labe braiders still trying to win an argument?
