ReplyDeleteI have seen both sides of this situation. Nurses at KUMed that never sit down for 12 hours, eat lunch while walking down the hallways, take good care of their patients, highly trained and smart.
ReplyDeleteThen they're the ones who sit at the floor computers shopping on the net, eyes clued to their iPhones while caring for patients. No difference than any other business in town unless you're the one in the bed.
Wouldn't want to be the one in the bed without a good nursing staff. It's hell. I vote for more pay and get rid of the deadbeats.

ReplyDeleteThe owners of Cerner's stock went up $800 million in the two week period the ACA went into effect. Nurses keep getting more and more shit piled up on them. They do so many jobs they didn't used to do. All of the aides the hospitals got rid of they just eliminated the jobs. The work didn't go away. The just piled it on to the staff that was left, mostly nurses. There is just some people I want paid well like nurses. And pilots. And doctors. The medical industry makes obscene amounts of money. Don't let Obamacare or anything else tell you otherwise. Hell, the top 10 pharmaceutical companies in Forbes 500 make more than the other 490 companies combined. Think about that. More than Exxon, GE, Microsoft, Apple, etc. COMBINED. We are being screwed.
