Just now concluded a REALLY GREAT AND INFORMATIVE MEETING with a Kansas City Police Department group of Latino Sergeants, a Deputy Chief and some other really cool members of the KCPD.
TKC SHOUT OUT AND THANK YOU TO THIS GROUP OF KCPD PROS WHO DO EXCELLENT WORK!!!
The talk was informative but I'm pretty sure that I learned more . . .
For starters . . . Here's just a brief overview of facts related to Latinos working in the KCPD.
1. There have only been 3 Latinos in the History of the KCPD promoted to the rank of captain
2. The last Latino to be promoted to captain just earned his rank in 2013.
3. Prior to that there had not been a Latino commander since Deputy Chief Ortega who retired in 2006/2007
4. There are approximately 50 captains
5. There has never been a female Latino commander
6. Currently, there are 9 Latino sergeants
7. The KCPD has approximately 230+ sergeants
8. Out of a recent sergeant promotion eligibility list of 40 (2013), there was only 1 Latino to make the list
9. There are approximately 40 Latino officers out of approximately 1400 KCPD officers

Moreover . . .
AS OF THIS WRITING TKC HAS YET TO MEET ANY KANSAS CITY POLICE OFFICER, SERGENT, DETECTIVE OR COMMANDER WHO ADVOCATES A "LOCAL CONTROL" CITY HALL TAKEOVER OF THE DEPARTMENT!!!
Also . . . It was important to learn that new freedom for Missouri political activism for the KCPD is welcomed but might not lead to a political awakening of the organization.
It was a really great meeting and just another sign that Kansas City Police are doing extensive outreach into the community and the local Internets in an attempt to communicate more effectively with Kansas City.
More in a bit . . .
Tony, give credit where it's due. Chief Forte has said that he wants to make better communication his top priority.
ReplyDeleteIf you can't slow violent crime in KC, you can at least make for a beautifully rainbow-colored group photo.
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget the Latino Officers who have left fucked up KCPD and gone on to achieve. One being a current Special Agent In Charge of a humongous area of responsibility with ATF. Now that we have kissed ass with KCPD once again, is there anything in the plan to clean it up?
ReplyDeleteLatino Officers Group? Well, did you talk to both of them?
ReplyDeleteOkay, that one at least made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteMaybe there's a reason for that, I can think of about 20 right off the top of my head.
ReplyDeleteexplain the diffrance between a black and litano when it comes to crying about mistreated
ReplyDeleteI was watching a doc called Mexico City in the toughest city's in the world series and the Mexican reporter said Mexicans love crime, death, and the mayhem that goes with it.
ReplyDeleteKCPD LATINO SERGEANTS GROUP
ReplyDeleteSounds racist to me.
But everyone knows the black man hates the brown man and the brown man hates niggers
Maybe technology can come up with a pill that turns you white and everyone will be happy.
ReplyDeleteThey have it's called Google Fiber. Get it and your an official pretend white.
ReplyDeleteCan't give undeserved promotions to people when it is unwritten law that all undeserved promotions go to somebody black just because, well, they are black.
ReplyDeleteYes, and what's next? The WHITE patrolmen's group? ha ha
ReplyDeletethey have that, it's called Parkville.
ReplyDeletePlatte County is all about mono culture.
ReplyDelete...and you never hear of problems with either department...
ReplyDeleteVince Ortega was/is a lying sack of shit. Maybe he is the reason there are fewer Latinos on KCPD forces. People are scared of another idiot asshole like Ortega.
ReplyDeleteIt's rough being white. Please forgive me that I don't acknowledge your struggle.
