BREAKING!!! KANSAS CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS THREATEN LAWSUIT TO STOP SCHOOL TRANSFERS!!!

The fight to save the KCPS continues . . .

"Members of the Kansas City Public Schools School Board said they will seek legal action to stop the school transfer ruling from taking effect."

Now . . .

CHECK THIS LAWSUIT STATEMENT FROM SCHOOL BOARD DIRECTOR AIRICK L. WEST!!!

Here goes...

We Must Act To Protect The Growing Achievement Of Our Scholars From Disruption & Instability

The Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) exists to ensure that all scholars are high achieving critical thinkers capable of succeeding in an ever changing world and of contributing to their communities. The role of the KCPS Board of Directors is to secure and protect these promises on behalf of our scholars, their families and their communities.

For the past 24 months, due to the stability KCPS has enjoyed, our scholars have experienced a surge in achievement the likes of which our community has not known in many years. The decision of the Supreme Court, when added to the decision of the State Board of Education not to confer the provisional accreditation our scholars earned, will create irreparable harm to the ongoing growth of their achievement. These circumstances, combined with the overwhelming outpouring of concern from KCPS parents, elected officials and community leaders, compel the Board to take actions protecting our scholar's growing achievement from harm.

The Board expects that Superintendent Green will continue to remain focused on growing the educational achievement of our scholars. But at the same time, the Board has directed our legal counsel to pursue appropriate legal remedies that will protect the academic well-being of our scholars from certain chaos and disruption.

The Board remains committed to partnering with our scholars, their families, their communities and our staff to continue the academic growth they have earned over the past 24 months. And the Board remains open to finding a non-litigious remedy to the peril in which these circumstances place the achievement of our scholars.

  5. at the end of the day it all comes down to not what you intend to do to fix the problem for the children but how to protect your jobs and the money... I cant for the life of me understand why like the city council and the mayor you know its the school boards fault the schools are in such disarray and yet its not enough that these kids will never function well in life without the almighty naacp eeoc etc etc etc and your friends of influence your just NOT going to step down. You people like the city council and the mayor are nothing less than fucking animals

  6. Good, the District is improving and they were never given a fair analysis by the corrupt commissioner. Our kids deserve better than a commissioner who is going to tell them her mind is made up before they even take the test.

  7. Back off NiCastro. Glad they finally sent a message to the crooked state education board.

  8. I agree. As far as the board is concerned (with the exception of Hile) this has absolutely nothing to do with scholar achievement, but just their desire to keep their status positions. It's disgusting. I would love it if one of the conditions of nixing the transfer law was that the board had to be replaced with worthy members.

  9. I cannot believe for one minute that you people are going to blame a person for the failure of the school board??? the students were failing at the hands of the board and the teaching staff, lost accreditation before NOT because a person in an office in Jeff City, Kansas City or Washington DC effected the scores but because the school board and the teachers failed these kids and your going to blame it on the people who are trying to protect the students??????? you ignorant fucking people, rather than destroy the kids just start a program called "Grand King of ishkabibbles" collect welfare and stay at home, why bother hurting children in your quest for fake authority and free money for doing nothing?

  10. It's always been about the money. When taxes doubled a few decades ago, there was a gigantic ka-ching, and things have been going downhill ever since.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Lets not go trying to stuff ten pounds of crap in a five pound bag folks. The Supreme Court has spoken. It must be hard for the school board to grasp that another decade of bullshit just isn't going to fly. If I was KCPS I'd put on my thinking caps (for maybe the first time ever) and start figuring out who you got to fire to straighten out this freaking mess in the KC Schools. It might not be a bad idea to replace the entire school board since if this was Corporate America there would not be too many heads lift to roll.

  12. give them all a big raise in pay you can fix anything if you throw enough money at it

  15. They are wasting tax payer dollars with this lawsuit. I ought to bring a lawsuit against them for wasting district dollars with this lawsuit.

Nicastro did the right thing by not granting accreditation. If KCPS shows another year of progress then I would support changing accreditation status...... but really, how arrogant of them to think they deserve to be accredited after decades of failure just because of 2 (really just 1) years of improvement. Seventy percent, SEVENTY-70 percent are not proficient in basic studies. Too little, too late, KCPS, and the state education officials called you on it.

  17. Nothing ever changes in this school district. It has been a mess forever. They KCPS has been incapable of hiring a Superintendent capable of steering the KCPS in the right direction for 35 years It has probably been and will continue to be un-fixable. As long as these inept KCPS board members are left to run the show with equally inept Superintendents this will continue to fail. Also the fact that very few parents care or only see school as a daytime baby sitter while they smoke crack and purchase alcohol with their EBT cards it only compounds the dire situation. KCPS = Detroit

The Superintendent - he seems ok, but Airick West - when we have someone who never went to college on the school board - well, you get what you get you apathetic voters. I didn't vote for his dumb ass.

  23. Same crap, different day, film at 11. Seriously this is the same crap we've heard for decades! It's all about the scholars, yadda, yadda. They threw BILLIONS of tax dollars at the problem, their Superintendant changes promise much and deliver little, and they've beat the drums of change so long the drums are pretty much ignored by everyone except those parents who's kids are stuck in school purgatory.

This district needs to be dissolved. Until the State of Missouri drives a silver stake through this district to kill it for good nothing will truly change.

  24. Did Airwick pay his fine in Lake Lotawanna white women.

There is the problem more grifters, shines, buck dancin minstrels all stealin da money.

To the idiot above the school district needs to be placed in receivership and a governor appointed that cares only about education of young adults, not politics, academians (sic), vendors, brainiacs with experimental ideas of social engineering, aft and the other distractions and self interests that keep our kids from getting a decent education. Oh and some asses need to be busted or kicked out so the other kids can learn.

Who had the courage to do that...not Nixon or Airwick.

  25. @6:56 you are a fucking moron. If you want to fix anything in the school district you first have to stop blaming everyone else for the problem and affix responsibility. That has not been done since day one in this fiasco. Second, no one has to tell me this is not Corporate America. If it was none of these rocket scientist would still be employed and the money would have been cut off years ago. Because it is government, idiots like you are perfectly happy to have everyone throwing money in a big black hole as if someone else is paying for it.. How are we ever going to get students to respect and meet standards when the school board has absolutely none. Every time they get caught with their pants around their ankles they send out the spin doctors, play victim and threaten to sue and blame someone else. The administration is not in kindergarten and they are not victims. They are in charge and by God they need to accept accountability and start performing or quit blowing smoke up everyone's collective ass about what experts they claim to be. If KCPS had any fixes they apparently forgot to implement them over the decades. There has not been one initiative where KCPS has admitted screwing anything up and until the attitude changes shredding that school board ought to be a serious option.

  27. KCPS has not been a mess "forever." It became a mess when a certain element took over. Guess what that element is? It is just like anything else they touch. All the money and lawsuits in the world won't fix it. Change must come from within. You know the parents don't value education and neither do their kids. Then these kids have kids of their own before they are even 18 and they pass there worthless values on. Repeat cycle in the hood. How much more evidence do we need that this crap doesn't work? And not just here either. Take a look at any urban school district. They all have a some things in common like who inhabits the area and abject failure. Gains are not being made, if anything it is getting worse. The best people in these neighborhoods are now 70+ years of age. The generations after them are worse in every way. They are more violent and eschew making a legitimate living. We are screwed.

  28. Oh my!
There goes that A.L. West (driving a vehicle with no current tags, no insurance, didn't appear in court, arrest warrant issued) KCPS Chair.

The same Mr. West who doesn't have a college degree, yet claims the goal for all KCPS "scholars" is to attend college! The KCPS website strongly implies that Mr. West went to K.U. and studied engineering.....it just doesn't say how long he attended (1 day? 1 week? 1 semester?)
Hey folks, I've been a visitor on the campus of some Ivy League schools, but I don't list that on my resume! But then, I also don't actively inflate my accomplishments and embellish my achievements.

Speaking of "scholars" (defined as a learned person or a specialist in a given branch of knowledge) every time Mr. West refers to all KCPS "students" as such, he is diminishing the accomplishments of the real scholars in the district, spreading a false message to residents, and tacitly condoning the slackers, and troublemakers behavior, because according to him, they're ALL SCHOLARS!!

The Superintendent lives in KANSAS!!! The School Board Chairman doesn't hold a college degree, and recently had a warrant out for his arrest!! KCPS is COMEDY CENTRAL.

  34. Hello ladies and gentleman:

This is a good time to introduce you to a related issue, as it pertains directly to KCPS leadership.

I'll tell you in advance that most will not grasp this concept, as it initially seems conspiratorial, and you've been taught to quickly dismiss such ideas. Those who are intrigued, may due some simple web searches to learn more.

This story uses the KCPS as a microcosm of what happens with regularity on the state and national level of politics. Have you ever wondered why certain people seem to mysteriously get selected and then rise in politics? Do you believe that wealthy, influential business interests actively recruit, support and finance political candidates who are then beholden to their benefactors?

This is a story of three men, I'll call them "Barry", "Devary", and "Airy"....these are pseudonyms, but the people are real.

Barry (age 52) epitomizes the peak of success that this type of program can foster. He has rapidly climbed as far up the ladder as is possible at the big conglomerate. While some parts of Barry's history are known, other sections remain controversial or the records have either been sealed or destroyed.

Devary (age 57), while not yet at the pinnacle, has risen quite high himself and is still active in the game. Devary heads up one of the many divisions which comprise the conglomerate, and is trying to position himself to advance further.

Now Airy (age 30's), he's representative of a young man who wants to play the game, has his foot in the door, and is currently performing his "community organizer" service, which he hopes to use as a springboard to a management position within a Midwestern division of the huge conglomerate. Airy is currently in a development stage where Barry and Devary were many years ago. Airy will have to return to college for his degree if he's serious about following the program guidelines, as that is how the other two advanced rapidly.

All three men are of the same race, were raised primarily by non-biological parents, and attended superior high schools via intervention. I'll leave the other similarities for your research.

    Clues = POTUS, Massachusetts, KCPS
    Read, research, think, think, think.

  36. Wow! Who is their legal council? What a waste of time pursuing a lawsuit. They dont stand a chance. From a recent DESE letter about KCPS:

In English language arts, the MAP Performance Index (MPI) averaged across all grade levels actually declined over the past three years. Last year's third grade proficiency rate of 23.12 percent was lower than it was in 2007.

    ReplyDelete
  37. The rest of the issues listed in that letter..was from state board of Ed pres:

After more than 30 years of failure in KCPS, we need to seize this moment to have a community conversation about how we educate our kids. We ask that you reserve judgment before any plan has been formulated or even ideas discussed. All of the recommendations for school system transformation will be debated by teachers, parents, students and community leaders. Ultimately, our hope is that the analyses and debate will result in a better future for our children.

We want to be clear about the current performance of schools in Kansas City. Here is a look at where KCPS currently stands:

In mathematics and English language arts, only about 30 percent of all reportable KCPS students scored proficient in 2012-2013. In English language arts for grades 3-8, all grades are below 30 percent proficient.
In English language arts, the MAP Performance Index (MPI) averaged across all grade levels actually declined over the past three years. Last year's third grade proficiency rate of 23.12 percent was lower than it was in 2007.
Proficiency improved in science and social studies, but student scores remained below 30 percent proficient across all students in both subjects.
KCPS's higher performance is concentrated in selective enrollment signature schools. In high school math, for example, most schools that exceeded state averages in Algebra I, were signature schools. For the three schools that accept all students, Algebra I proficiency rates were 32.8 percent, 16.1 percent and 12.1 percent.
Similarly, while the graduation rate at East High School improved in 2012-13, graduation rates averaged across all open enrollment high schools was below 60 percent. That means that more than four out of 10 students in Kansas City's non-selective high schools failed to complete high school.
Average student growth in KCPS is below the state average in both English and math, which are the only two subjects for which the state measures growth. Some may argue that Kansas City’s proficiency rates are low because of a low starting point, so there’s more room for progress to allow the district to catch up. Yet the district earned the state's lowest rating for growth in both ELA and math in 2012-13. This means the KCPS students grew less on average than their peers across Missouri, falling further behind rather than catching up.

I was born and raised in Detroit. I lived there until 1999. I was a dyed in the wool liberal. I watched as the city I loved, and a city my ancestors established, fall into ruin. I wept at the sight of lovely homes falling into disrepair. I wept as verdant boulevards became refuse dumps. I was shocked to my very core at what happened to the city's libraries. I have seen Cleveland, and Baltimore. I have viewed the devastation of Newark, but, the devastation of Detroit has far exceeded even these. Detroit was truly a jewel. Fabulous architecture by Albert Kahn (including factories!)Maybe "Detroit" will come back. However, any new Detroit will be nothing but a lifeless hull, shorn of its most magnificent architecture, and its original joie de vie of its French founders. ( I might be French, but I sure as hell don't know how to spell it; cripes, I hope I said joy of life in French). To sum up my experience with Blacks: YOU CAN NEVER WIN. You are wasting your time on them. It is not possible to be friends with them, unless you consider walking on eggshells a friendship enhancement. I finally had to ask: How is it possible that this group of people have lived in this country, read the same textbooks, watched the same T.V. and movies, listened to the same music, played the same sports, and yet, have still been the most unassimilated group of people in this country? For the longest time, I was firmly of the belief it was the fault of Whites. No longer. The fault is theirs and theirs alone. They are not compatible with Western Civilization, period. Their genetic background is not capable of fitting into civilized society. There will be no closing the gap. Pre-school education is futile. The only solution is to change their DNA, but, that would only change them into Whites brain wise, so what, exactly, would be the point? It would make more sense to pour money into making Whites smarter. By the way, the population of Africa is expected to explode in the next fifty years. What do you think will happen?

Back in the mid 1960's my liberal parents believed the Multi-cultists lie that Diversity was a Joy and Multiculturalism was a strength. So when blacks started moving in, we stayed long after most of our white neighbors moved out. It was a huge mistake. Our Detroit neighborhood went from a beautiful, well kept, clean and safe place to raise a family, to a crime ridden hell hole within a few years years. Finally moved, and took the huge property value loss, after several break-in attempts, two stolen cars, vandalism (rock through our front window, slashed tires), racist physical assaults, anti-white racist name calling, and the nude mutilated body of a young blond white woman was dragged and thrown up against our house like a piece of discarded trash by a black male (later arrested and convicted). After the police and coroner removed her body, I was left to hose off the trail of her blood and fecal matter off our sidewalk and front lawn...my now no-longer-Liberal parents were finally convinced it was time to get out. And I will wear the physical scars to my grave.

Now live, and raised a family on acreage in an all white rural neighborhood in the country, were after over 30 years we had only one "crime" on our road...a neighbor was fined for burning leaves without a permit.

A bit of advise from someone who knows through in-your-face blood-on-the-ground experience. If you are young, work as hard as you can; sacrifice, and scrimp and save every penny. Not so that one day you can afford the luxuries you've always wanted, but so you can afford to move as far away as possible from these black social experiments and their Liberal Democrat enablers! They are destroyers of life, liberty, safety, happiness and Western Civilization

  44. The majority of you on this blog can read and write because parents and the community, during your generation, valued education. This case is NOT about the Board of Education or the Superintendent. Nineteen (19) schools are accredited. The others are on their way, given the chance. The questions are Why, Why, Why - social ills - hunger, homelessness, lack of training, respect for elders, joblessness. Most of you haven't visited a school or volunteered to assist with mentoring. The community has a role to play, since something went wrong with the X and Y generations and most naysayers are to blame.
