Right now we have KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER insight regarding a company that was touted by the nation's top politicos and now faces tough times despite an economy that's supposed to be on the rebound.
Most of the time TKC doesn't have must interest in "green" news unless it involves Arianny Celeste and her mostly nekkid goodness . . .
However . . .
For a long time the downward spiral of Smith Electric has been ignored by the local mainstream media. It seems that not even Prez Obama's endorsement can save this seemingly broken "green" energy play.
And now . . .
KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS REPORT THE SITUATION AT SMITH ELECTRIC IS GROWING WORSE!!!
One tipster writes in . . .
"If you'll remember Obama made at least two trips in there to brag on their green initiative. And they gave them huge amounts of money. I would assume the city of KC gave them tax breaks also.
Well they can't pat their bills and a strong rumor is they are working with someone in China to build trucks there."
Actually, that last passage isn't a "strong rumor" it's a fact touted by the company's presser that hopes Chinese collaboration will help save the struggling biz. Sadly, using American taxpayer cash to subsidize Chinese production might not be the best move in the grand scheme of things. The company is also working a joint venture in Taiwan. Last year the company earned a bump in press coverage with an announcement that they would build another factory in Chicago but the location was never determined and the Chicago project has been delayed according to a recent report in the New York Times.
Another KICK-ASS TIPSTERS says the situation for Smith Electric is dire . . .
"TKC, expect another round of layoffs from Smith Electric as the company has determined that they won't be able to function without more financing and subsidy of their products from Obama & Co. Don't forget to tell your readers that the battery tech that they based their biz model on is now outdated."
Brit Company Smith Electric was awarded $32 Million by the Obama Administration. Last year the company lost more than $52 million - A record for the "green" biz.
One last biz expert added . . .
"TKC, look for the local branch of this company to shutter soon. They're bleeding red ink and the word from Beltway insiders is that there is no more cash to keep them afloat."
And so . . . In Kansas City we hear that hope for change in the era of peak oil isn't going to come from this company that formerly won the spotlight as a groundbreaking Kansas City technology play and now seems to be on the verge of collapse.
Developing . . .
Without more cash from Obama, half of all u.s. business would fold. so that is kind of an unfair comparison.

ReplyDeleteF@#$king gripping about marathons, minorities, people that make more money than we do, the unemployed, immigrants, anyone who does not carry a gun, etc. I think the current Mayor sucks, the City Manager is incompetent, and the light rail will fail, but there is a part of me that still appreciates a attempt of others to make the effort and have the balls to try to improve things even when I don't agree with them.
What concerns me about this blog is that it used to be a forum where local interest matters could be debated and examined.
Review of recent posts reflects fowl mouthed trolls and haters that get boners by sympathizing with Nazis and rapists in an anonymous format.
TKC has "re-missioned" this blog to one of generating hits and internet traffic rather than a meaningful endeavor. If you have any doubt, review the responses to this post.

Not sure over what 11:57 probably got his panties in a twist about but yes language is rough once in a while and some post same thing all the time but I myself do see some really good comments in here once in a while which in my book makes it all worth while. I as well lot of times find comments funny as hell. So 11:57 either go with the flow or flow the fuck out of here.
ReplyDeleteKC has been rocking the EB-5 program for some time now, its where you go to China, like the KCMO City Council does and you find investors for KC Companies, the person invests $500,000 to 1M dollars into the company and he and his whole family packs up and moves to KCMO for the next two years because if 4 people are hired (even floor sweepers) for two years F/T, they get free US Citizenship for their whole family! If they don't have 4 employees working F/T after 2 years ... the VISA dies off UNLESS of course they have an anchor baby while they are here and "VIOLA" thank you kcmo city council for my US Citizenship and they hug and thank each other for that back door sale of a green card.. ask your corrupt council how well they sleep at night doing such a wonderful thing for these people. I personally think they should stick with giving out "honorary minority" status like they did with Larry Reynolds of Reynolds electric who they let "self certify" as a minority, thats right! you only need to join a few organizations to get what the city calls "community recognition" and your into the MBE program and you have rights to contracts meant for minorities, its not hard to do at all ... I'll have to share with you how phillip yeller lets you do that one day
