The Kansas City Saturday Night Quick Hits

Once again, let's make this quick and dirty . . .

CHECK THESE READER ITEMS WORTHY OF CONSIDERATION WHILE WAITING FOR YOUR LADY FRIEND TO HURRY HER A$$ UP!!!

An important note on Kansas City International Commerce . . .

With all of the foundries around here, why do we have to have our covers made in India??? And we have the nerve to talk about Spanish toy trains and airport projects as "job creators"?

Celebrity love for the Prez Obama Administration . . .

"Kathleen and husband Gary Sebelius were at the Bonnie Raitt concert at the Midland tonight. Section 102, Row 24, next to the sound booth. They got a shoutout from Bonnie."

Charity is a running joke in Kansas City . . .

Kansas City Insiders contend that the Kansas City Marathon spends up to 40% of their revenue to pay for the logistics of their city clogging event before they even START to give cash to charity.

More in a bit . . .

  1. Seems like all the runs are in Crossroads & Brookside. Let's spread the business around. How about limiting it to one run per neighborhood per month?

  7. 7:12: One run per neighborhood per month is too much. We have five counties in the metro. Each county should share in the "wealth," and then break it down by neighborhoods if necessary. No neighborhood should be burdened with these marathons more than once a year. As Superdave points out, they are a means for the organizers to eat high on the hog while those of us just trying to get around town get to waste our fuel waiting for these twits to give us a break in traffic to cross "their" route.

And remember the 40% is spent before it goes to the "charitable" organizations, each of which has its highly-paid staff, overhead, general and administrative expenses, etc. Bottom line: not much actually goes to help people in need.
