TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! NORTHEAST KANSAS CITY INDIAN MOUND REJECTS TOY TRAIN STREETCAR STUDY!!!

Important word this morning from a Kansas City neighborhood waking up to the tragic Toy Train Streetcar scheme that's being perpetrated on this town . . .

Check it:

From last night's Indian Mound Neighborhood meeting . . .

"We voted not to study the streetcar route. It was a low turnout; honestly could have gone either way. But I've discussed this at various meetings and for as much support as I see for this, I never seem to see more than 40% approval."

To wit . . .

NORTHEAST KANSAS CITY SEEMS TO BE STANDING AGAINST TOY TRAIN STREETCAR HYPE AS THE EXPENSIVE EFFORT FAILS WHEN VOTES AREN'T RIGGED BY MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL!!!

Thanks to KICK-ASS AND EXTREMELY TALENTED TKC TIPSTERS for this neighborhood insight into Kansas City toy train streetcar deception.

  1. They really want to extend the line to Kauffman and umkc. that will totally screw midtown construction though and the businesses there aren't as nice as stretch and his compatriots. we'll see.

  2. Stupid TKC and Stupid Northeast9/17/13, 9:07 AM

Indian Mound Neighborhood doesn't even have enough people interested in being an officer, so the current officers remained stuck in their unwanted positions.

This rag-tag group of people, including clown-like "elBryan", does not represent the makeup of Indian Mound Neighborhood - and much less, the whole of Northeast Kansas City.

My point is not about their decision regarding the Train, but rather TKC being stupid enough and sloppy enough to state that "Northeast Kansas City seems to be standing against...", as if these idiot fucks running the Indian Mound Neighborhood qualify as an indicator of anything.

  3. The out of state racketeers and city hall are bound and determined to totally destroy Midtown's former appeal as an affordable, livable, relaxed, easy going, quality, etc, place to set roots and live.

  4. Tony, you give too much attention to Northeast non-representatives like elBryan & Mike Bushnell (Northeast non-news), and John Rizzo (Northeast non-State Representative). These people are often sited on your blog, but they have no impact in Northeast or anywhere else in Kansas City.

  5. Indian Mound is the largest neighborhood in Northeast. I would step up to be president, but it is a full time job with no salary, and I have four kids plus my wife commits 3-4 nights per week to roller derby.

Pendleton Heights endorsed a streetcar study. Emperor Glover plans to spend PIAC funds no matter what Indian Mound says.

Residents were concerned about the cost, and few were swayed by the argument that streetcar would bring needed infrastructure improvements. One advocate of streetcar claimed the bus was disgusting, as if the streetcar would only serve a more sophisticated clientele.

    ReplyDelete
  6. The only two people I see and hear that are good for Northeast are Hyperblogal and Will Royster.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Bryan, you fucking PUSSY Excuse-Making Piece of Shit! "My job, my wife, my kids, my pussy hurts" excuses for simply NOT being a person with any valid, fact-based opinions is the reason you shouldn't ever be president of anything, and is also the reason that nobody who knows you takes you or your opinion seriously. OMG you are SUCH a loser - you deserve your neighborhood.

  8. Let's be clear. Last night's vote of no confidence in the Independence Avenue streetcar study means nothing, but the strategy to build streetcar has been to do it quickly, quietly, and create the appearance that it is wildly popular. I simply wanted to make it publicly clear that no one is as excited about this project as City Hall wishes we were. Hopefully other neighborhood Associations and volunteer groups will rally together to stand against the streetcar, if for no other reason to correct the narrative of this controversial, economic development fail.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hyperblogal is against the streetcar. I'll let him explain that. I'm at every meeting and volunteer/participate at many neighborhood events, but my schedule doesn't allow for me to field calls and solve problems for people in the neighborhood on a daily basis. If you're gonna call me out as a pussy, it would help your case if you put your name to it.

  10. el Bryan, you said: "...no one is as excited about this project as City Hall wishes we were."

    but

    1) You don't know what "City Hall" wishes.

    and

    2) Some people ARE excited (which is why it exists as a "controversial" issue).

I think your logic is unfounded.

    ReplyDelete
  11. hey, Bryan, here is an objective question for you: your despised politico, Wil Royster, was also against the streetcar, and was quoted in the Northeast News and KC Star, years ago, when he was on one of those Rail commissions. Did you know this, and does than mean you like him now? What about your friend, J Rizzo? What has he ever said in public about the issue?

    ReplyDelete
  12. ,,,,nor do the 351 voters who approved the starter line represent the city at large... rigged.

  13. Yeah...roller derby. So glad you and the missus have your civic priorities straight there.

And that's why the Northeast is the Northeast, and will remain the Northeast.

  14. We're back to the number of voters?
if there was this massive disenfranchisement, where was the opposition getting voters? Serious question.

If there were all these people looking to vote against it why was there zero organization for this. The group -for- the streetcar line managed to hold events in dozens of downtown buildings. And since this wasn't a single election, but rather two, that would have made derailing the vote even easier.

    Where was the opposition?

That there wasn't one is way more telling than vague complaints about the number of voters after the fact.

  15. Incidentally, on neighborhood not voting to study the route doesn't mean one won't be built. Don't assume that's the case.

They're looking different endpoints as different opportunities based on interest, ridership, overall cost and such.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Scarrit, Pendleton Heights, IP and Columbus Park are all writing letters of support for the Independence Avenue line. I'd say that leaves Indian Mound outnumbered (and neutralized, as there is no formal dissent, just no letter of support).

    ReplyDelete
  17. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure what what city hall wants when Sly James, Russ Johnson, Jim Glover say "we want to build this."

The fact that anyone thinks they have any business how I, a private citizen, spend my free time, Really explains a lot About the mind of a streetcar supporter.

Regarding Royster, yes, I was aware that he had been against light rail. As previously stated, I agree with Will Royster on many Northeast issues. I just don't appreciate racism or sore losers. Rizzo has not publicly stated his position on streetcar, but I've asked him to consider introducing TDD reform and he's promised to read Tom Schweich's critical audits of TDD abuse in KC. I'm not holding my breath, but he's doing his job

    ReplyDelete
  18. Indian mound? Who the fuck cares!

    ReplyDelete
  19. 10:50 is absolutely correct. IMNA didn't take the next Step in condemning the streetcar line, and the other neighborhood associations were never presented with all the facts about streetcar, so of course they bowed down to city hall and said "Thanks for finally paying attention to us."

Like I said, the vote was entirely insignificant besides the fact that it wrecks City Hall's false narrative that this project is overwhelmingly popular. If more people knew the truth and were asked to publicly defend their positions, the best argument for the streetcar would be "But they're cool."

This debate was never allowed to happen outside the context of "Resistance is futile. If you don't build it, another neighborhood will." And THAT is why this project is flawed, and why I will continue to fight it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Also, let correct one thing I said. Tom Schweich's audits of TDDs were Missouri, not just KC. Rizzo hasn't promised anything one way or another until he's read the audits and considered it's effects beyond KC.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Bryan, you are really not correct. From what pretty much everyone in Jackson County has observed, Rizzo has promised many things, and delivered nothing. (He is also a racist, who makes money on minorities who are so desperate they need a legal loan shark.) I don't think you have studied or understood much of what you speak and draw about.

I'm not going to waste time arguing either mans personal views on race, my only reason for bringing it up, and the main reason I decided I don't like Royster, was how he assumed every Somalian that voted was part of an illegal immigrant community wrapped up in a conspiracy with Rizzo.

The light rail plans of the past have all gone up US 71 and then cut down Clever to go through midtown. On purpose. From the stance of the NE and eastside, it was a token segment at best. They put the train down the very highway that cut through neighborhoods for how bad the symbolism is of the former plans.

The phase 2 setup largely avoids this same corridors. It is a major hand out to the east side. he city didn't have anywhere near the same scale of public meetings for their rail plan and Chastain sure didn't. It may be a bit unfair, but CHastain connected white people to the parts of the "ghetto" white people drive through and the places white people go. He talks about connecting people to the zoo, not connecting residents to jobs. And that's the difference this time around with the city.

We have a northlander championing he biggest open hand the city has given to the east side in a decade

And this individual is spitting in it. Luckily it looks like he doesn't represent the area as a whole, which is jumping on board with support.

  33. Streetcar does nothing to make Northeast a safer place to live. It does nothing to repair sidewalk, sewers, or remove graffiti. It does nothing to improve schools. It does NOTHING to improve transportation.

The only people who really want a streetcar are white people who are "too good for the bus" and don't try to argue that point because it was brought up at our meeting last night, and Dave Johnson of streetcar neighbors has admitted as much.

Residents of Northeast aren't "too good for the bus." If we have somewhere to be, and we don't have a car to get there, we learn the fucking bus schedule.

If we're supposed to get down on our knees and thank Russ Johnson for usurping our voting rights and including us in his master plan to enhance his resume, then damn right I'm going to spit in it.

I don't represent ALL of Northeast, but there are more of us against it than there are for it, and I am practically the only one who is presenting the facts on this thing. Most of the electorate is apathetic about the entire situation and at the end of the day, they're siding with the people who are giving them something neat to look at, but if they looked at it practically, like for instance, that we could serve the entire metro area with buses for nearly TWO WHOLE YEARS just for what it costs to build the two miles downtown starter line, you'd see some ears perk up.

If I pointed out that it would take more than 50 years before we ever saw any shred of cost savings, you'd see people reconsider.

And when you ask someone "Why can't you take the bus, which currently runs the same route," and then that person responds, "Because the bus is disgusting," you'd see the scales tip heavily against this horrible scam.

I can't believe you seriously suggested that Russ "Road Rage" Johnson is doing anyone in this city or my district a favor by employing Pendergast tactics against his opposition.

  37. elBryan, are you aware of the fact that Jackson County Sheriff Department identified more than 30 Somali voters who were not identified as Citizens - and that the Feds took over the cases? Were you also aware that a local "slum lord" was collecting absentee ballots from his immigrant tenants and telling them that if they didn't vote for a "certain" candidate, they would be evicted? Did you know that one candidate made all of this known three years ago to the paper you work for, but your boss didn't want to investigate to see if it was true? So far, everything I've read or heard from John Joseph Rizzo has turned out to be false; and everything I've heard from Will Royster has turned out to be true. I think you're opinions are all based upon you getting invited to a party by one, and being ignored by another.

  39. Other neighborhoods are at least open to discussing the trolly. While I don't think it was necessary to say that Bryan's "Pussy Hurts", I do think there is truth to the idea that Indian Mound board members seem to be too lazy to even consider it.

    ReplyDelete
  40. If your wondering why elBryan is so fond of Pendergast, perhaps it's because he is on Patrick Touhey's payroll at The Missouri Record. And we all know where Touhey gets his money. Pendergast knew that by shoving money in people's pockets, their hearts and minds would follow. elBryan is hooked on the political crack of the day...cold, hard cash provided by those who delight in attacking Kansas City. You want to know where elBryan's loyalty lies, just follow the money. It's too bad Indian Mound's board let a paid shill like him vote on such matters. Normally that would be a serious conflict of interest, but for elBryan and his sugar daddy Touhey, it's just business as usual. Welcome to real Pendergast politics.

And TKC quietly ignores this odd financial arrangement. Maybe TKC is on the payroll too.

  42. For the record, Indian Mound's president did everything she could to persuade residents to vote for a streetcar study, but I was equipped with facts, and had I been allowed to present all of those facts to the other neighborhoods, I am confident that they would have rallied with me as well. This entire process has been one sided by design. I love how the personal attacks have ramped up this evening. Everyone I've ever had coffee with is officially the dumbest person in Kansas City.

BTW, it actually takes a lot more effort to reject a study that City Council has already committed to than it does to just write a letter celebrating the foregone conclusion that we'd all just bend over and take a train up the ass. Especially when City Hall has basically scared most residents into believing that if we stand up to them, that they'll just spend hundreds of millions of $ in another district. Nice bully tactics, but that's not how an open, honest, democratic government works and I'm not afraid to stand up to them. This Indian Mound meeting could have gone either way because I know a dozen people on both sides of the issue that could have attended and altered the outcome, but again, I reiterate, for every four people who are "too white to ride the bus" there are FIVE who reject this project and/or the way it was passed.

If you're so confident support is the majority, what was the purposed of disenfranchising KC's voters? City Hall is corrupt. Fight local control of the police and call your state Representative and demand TDD reform. City Hall is spending us into Detroit.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Some Kansas Citians are just anti everything for the sake of being anti everything. Patrick Tooey is another example. The best strategy is to steam roll them everytime and just keep moving on.

I'm against politicians who take their constituents for granted and spend tax dollars on pet projects to enhance their own resumes. If we had responsible, trustworthy people in charge, someone would have seen the pattern of failure by now and tried something different. I'm just waiting for Sly James to realize that Denver has mountains so he decides to build some of those for us.

I have to weigh in on this one - where are your "facts" about Rizzo and Royster, Bryan?

You are equipped with your own emotional entanglements that are specious arguments related to your own personal envy and insecurity. You aren't a leader because you are too inconsistent, and not objective enough.

  53. I'm not sure why you're obsessed with Patrick Tuohey, unless you are Russ Johnson.

I'm also not sure why we're still hung up on Rizzo and Royster. What facts are we looking for? Prior to the election, I remained objective as Chris Moreno and Will Royster himself could tell you. It wasn't until after the election that I felt Moreno and Royster mishandled the process, and then his supporters determined that I was always against him and wrong about everything.

So go ahead and laugh about the insignificance of Indian Mound all you like; we're the largest neighborhood in Northeast. Our neighborhood has everything that Waldo has to offer and more, but we have a reputation for being The East Side. We've sat on the sidelines and watch one economic development projects after another fail in downtown, we've watched the Kansas City Museum deteriorate, and streetcar is the city's answer to our problems.

I am an advocate for meaningful things that will improve our neighborhood and make it safer for families. If we have the money to build a streetcar, then we have the money to buy every single vacant property in Northeast.

You don't want to discuss the facts because of your emotional entanglements and specious arguments with streetcar, and I would out debate every single one of you all day long.

    1. This is an interesting string, for a change. I'm curious, El Bryan - and someone alluded to this earlier, but you failed to answer: why do you think Will Royster, with his formerly all-Hispanic campaign staff, and his kids'Hispanic godparents, and his "Somalis For Royster" organization (created, staffed, and funded by Somali women)....why do you call him "racist"? Why would you not call John Rizzo a racist for his campaign of manipulating Somali women in the voting booth, and Hispanic immigrants in slumlord housing, and being a predatory lender...why would you not call him racist. I'll debate YOU any time on this issue. Answer up, or shut up.

      Delete
  54. el Boy, the idea a Royster being a racist is stupid because he lives in a Northeast neighborhood named after his family, and nobody even questions that he lives there; Rizzo, on the other hand lives up north with all his family members, and he rents an "address" in Columbus Park. He doesn't want to be around non-whites. I know this post isn't about Rizzo, Royster, or race, but I'm tired of reading your stupid statements.

  55. Jesus; Will Royster and his pals see my name and they lurk to see what's going on. Inevitably the debate is shifted toward my criticism of the way Royster handles losing.

Will, why don't you just call me? If you're against streetcar, let's work together on a strategy to reform TDDs. Maybe that involves finding a candidate to defeat Rizzo. It sure beats posting anonymous comments on unrelated topics in the third person.

I'm not your enemy, but the grudges your knitting circle has with me is uncanny.

And Councilman Johnson; this blog sets the bar pretty low, but you should have no problem going beneath it. Aside from lunch back in April, I have run into Mr. Tuohey at a single Transportation Committee meeting at City Hall. Any editorial cartoons featured on Missouri Record AFTER the Christmas series in 2010 were pro-bono.

    1. Will; When I saw your Somalians For Royster Facebook Fan Page created in retaliation to Rizzo's support in the Somalian community, I thought for sure it was a prank. When I realized it was serious, I was embarrassed for you, but it was forgivable.

After the election, your were justifiably frustrated, but you lashed out at your constituents and made erroneous claims that people were illegal immigrants because their birthdays were all January 1, entirely ignorant of the fact that many immigrants, especially those from third world countries, put January 1 on their immigration papers.

I believed many of your allegations of voter fraud, but I think you should have conceded, stayed active in the community, and defeated Rizzo in 2012. Instead, you pursued your illegal immigrant course and ruined your reputation in the neighborhood. So I don't believe you hate certain races, but I don't think you're sensitive enough to other cultures to be a representative in this district.

I didn't feel this way until after the election.

      Delete
    2. elbryan, this isn't Will Royster, but I was a Rizzo yard sign sponsor a long time ago; but unlike you, I occasionally helped Will's campaign AND I analyzed the Missouri Watchdog Investigation of the election. I also read the court and deposition statements available on Google Docs, and I watched ALL of Will's original public statements be proven true.

FYI, Somali women created the "Somalis For Royster" organization and FB Page, and they started the editorial support in their community-wide paper - its all documented and public information for those not too lazy to look it up - yet, you are saying Somali women's justifiable concerns, all of which came true, were things for Will to be embarrassed about? Really? Why?

Also, there was no "lashing out at constitutes" (give one example of this to support your statement), and there were no erroneous Royster claims that "people were illegal immigrants" (again, I challenge you to document this statement by any Royster campaign person as an issue - the valid issue was that non-citizens voted, which has been confirmed, and is still under criminal investigation).

No way was Will going to concede because he didn't lose, and because he knew criminal laws were broken to steal the election from his neighborhood.

He has stayed involved in the neighborhood, and his reputation right now is far better than that of John Rizzo, who everyone in the United States now knows "won" by family fraud and public corruption.

To recap: everything you stated is incorrect - and proven so - which means you have a perfect "fit" at the Northeast News and TKC.

  60. Fuck, Bryan, if you got your car stolen by someone you know, would you concede to the criminal and just let him keep the car - or would you expect the authorities to do their job and not only get the car back to you, but punish the crook who stole it?

Everybody has heard about rizzo being a crook, yet newspaper people like you continue to cover up for him by attacking the wrong (good) guy. You're dumb.

  61. Since this post has morphed into something between elBryan and people supporting Will Royster I want to ask elBryan why he said Will Royster is "really horrible at getting things done". I lived at Newhouse for a while, and I disliked Will because he was being all hard-ass when he introduced his anti-drug and anti-prostitute law. I understood why he was doing it, but at the time i didn't like it. After Newhouse, I lived in Scarritt for a couple years when Will made Cliff Drive a better place on weekends, and when he got lots of working people tax credits. He got the Museum to become a real City Commission. Now we also know he won his election. So I think you are wrong saying he is horrible at getting things done.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Stalder, you and I have met, and I thought you were either high, or just plain stupid, or both. Chris Moreno was Will Royster's campaign manager, and he wrote and released all of Royster's press releases; so unless you listen to an actual television or radio interview with Royster, or unless you see quotation marks around statements, Royster wasn't "speaking to the media". Chris Moreno was. It seems stupid for you to say Royster is "horrible" at speaking to the Media because he communicates well enough to have passed every vote he has ever sought from the Kansas City Council and all the commissions he used to be on, including his own neighborhood. Apparently he also spoke well enough to win his election. He just doesn't speak stupid enough for you to understand.
