Taking JoCo Kraske Biz Rhetoric To Task!!!

Show-Me Daily Blog takes apart a former newspaper dude turned college professor who has been content to opine about KCMO topics from the relative safety of the suburbs: "First, Kraske pretends that the issues with which Kansas City struggles — crime, education, high taxes, ineffective government — do not impact quality of life. They most certainly do. Second, he leaves out that Kraske himself lives in Kansas. I don’t know if Kraske ever lived in Missouri. But if he did, at some point he asked himself, “Is it time to leave Kansas City?” and answered that it was."

  1. Hey - I'm a big fan of KCMO. I want it to succeed. But... got to do what is best for your family.

  2. See Kraske's page at the KC Star.

  3. Has he ever covered politicians' views on unsolicited bulk e-mail?

  4. Johnson County would not, cannot and will not exist without a strong healthy, vibrant KC (same goes for all the suburbs in Missouri, too, even the Northland, which is just a suburb of KCMO).

Johnson County wins in term of the quality of its public schools, but there isn't a single other area in which it is better than urban KCMO.

Crime rates are different, but actual safety is not. The simple fact is you are safer walking at 33rd and Benton than driving on K-7.

  5. There is no where in this city worth living outside of the 1945 city limits.

  6. Makes one wonder why ALL the SMI bigwigs have houses in their respective urban cores?

Wonder if it has to do with the fact that STL and KC are just classier than their suburbs, even the posh ones. Central West End versus Ladue? Shee-it. Ward Parkway versus Leawood? No contest.

  7. The best part of the SMI is that R Crosby Kemper, libertarian hero, directs a fucking PUBLIC library...

  8. Why don't you go text is some pictures from 33rd and Benton at 11 tonight to show us how safe it is

  9. If KCPS Superintendent Green can get a contract waiver to live in Bonner Springs, KANSAS.....then I don't care if Kraske lives just over the state line in Kansas! People with school age kids, who can afford to, are going to go where their kids are safe and get a good education.
    Kudos to the Great Kraskini!

  10. The bigger question is:

    Where does he work?

Unlike all of the Mission Hills Fat Cats who "profit" downtown and have high-priced accountants so they pay NO TAX in MO or KCMO.

If Kraske is paying his income tax and E-tax where he works, more power to him.

He will be missed in the paper. At least he'll be on the radio.
