Accordingly . . .
WE PRESENT THE 1ST WORST PERSON IN KANSAS CITY AWARD TO KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR ADVOCATE STAUBIO!!!
While Kansas City is going broke, awash in crime and hosts crumbling infrastructure throughout local neigbhorhoods . . . Stubio is hard at work pushing Kansas City toy train expansion.
Now, David Johnson is harmless, has cool glasses and he gave me a free t-shirt so I don't mind him so much.
Mary Jo Draper and her propaganda/resume fodder blog is tolerable if only because she's scared of her own shadow and her "civic activism" will cease as soon as she lands a new PR gig.
However . . .
STAUBIO IS THE WORST GIVEN HIS HORRIBLE BEARD AND ARROGANCE AND MINDLESS SUPPORT FOR THE TOY TRAIN THAT'S HELPING TO BANKRUPT KANSAS CITY!!!
Staubio simply refuses to admit despite a great deal of evidence that:
- The Toy Train is not a viable mode of public transit given that it only travels a couple of miles.
- The Toy Train is an irresponsible attempt to create an economic engine by borrowing hand over fist.
- The Toy Train is REMARKABLY UNDEMOCRATIC AND CROOKED given the rigged election used to keep Kansas City at large from voting on this measure that has already drained the general fund.
- Oh yeah . . . And given so much public transit violence . . . The Toy Train seems kinda dangerous and may go empty given recent Kansas City bus shootings and stabbings.
So, congrats Staubio . . . This is an award that you've earned and one that's most reflective of the work to build a Kansas City streetcar.

The first phase of the KC Streetcar has begun with contracts being awarded. The Phase 1 Route is from River Market to Crown Center.
It's time to begin planning the next expansion phases. Plans include a spur west from Main Street along Southwest Blvd.
The Streetcar Folks are hosting a public meeting to discuss ideas for expanding the routes and to get your input.

These people seem to think every big city in America can become a little Manhattan where everyone lives in hugely expensive congested spaces. Nothing wrong with people choosing that lifestyle but it is not economically sustainable in most cities.

ReplyDeleteThis is just like the new airport. The people in Kansas City with money and power want this because this gives them one more opportunity to suck some of the wealth out of Kansas City. If it wasn't for Kansas City north of the river, Kansas City would be Detroit.

I mean, nice guy and all, and totally approachable, (where as David Johnson pre-emptively blocks discussion with anyone who might challenge his ideas,) but I had lunch with Matt back in February, and I presented him with endless facts and statistics. He had all of his talking points prepared, so he wasn't really listening, nor did he really care about anything I had to say. To be in the position that he is in, he has to immerse himself in total oblivion of anything except "Streetcar is the best and most important thing to happen to Kansas City since Quay Coffee." and for that, he definitely deserves this title.
