The woman and child victims of Kansas City murder deserve nothing less than our full attention. So far the only sign of hope in light of this atrocity is that real community leaders like Mr. Washington have stepped up to search for justice and encourage community cooperation in the aftermath of tragedy.
This is serious business. I'm glad that Alonzo is encouraging people to work with police and vice versa.

Not necessarily. I was a medical professional until I was stopped by a local officer on a moving violation. He handcuffed my hands behind my back and then mauled me. No warrants, no police record, just an officer having a bad day. As I am a small,middle-aged woman and was already handcuffed I doubt he was afraid of me. He just knew he could get away with indulging his baser instincts,so he did. He ended my 23-year career secondary to injuries received. Despite my filed complaints, there were no repercussions to him, exactly as he predicted. It's not about skin, it's about respect. If you don't give it, you don't get it, not even with a shiny badge on your chest.

DeleteWrong again. The officer was erroneously advised that my license was suspended. It turned out to be a typo. The whole thing cost me $300 including ticket for expired tag(turned out to be the only legitimate charge they had), attorney fees & court costs for the Jackson County courtroom/bingo parlor.
DeleteAfter it was all over, he apologized to me but sometimes, no matter how sorry you are, it's too late to take it back. It's time for average people to start requiring adult accountability from leadership roles in our society and it's time for some of us to say people like you don't represent me, no matter what you look like.

You are quite right that there is a crying need to improve relations between the local police and the black community. But good relations are a two-way street. On the one hand, cops need to treat black people with professional respect--and I know from my own contacts that all too often that this is sadly not the case. On the other, when cops are accused of racist misconduct, they need to be given due process and fair media coverage--not tried in the media by journalists terrified of being accused of racism and dismissed by Police Boards terrified of threats of convention boycotts. ReplyDeleteLet's get real. This murder, as horrific as it is, is not a racial issue. It's not even a cultural issue. The marjority of Black people don't behave like the situation that occurred here. There's a small percentage of Black women who continuously make bad choices in men, in child rearing, in virtually everything they do. The Black male, and lets be honest here -- he was Black, that killed this woman and her child likely was the child's father. Black men tend to want to control women. Black women tend to want to be controlled by men. All of this controlling takes place in an environment of immaturity. Neither the woman nor the man can deal with that type of power due to their overwhelming immaturity. Compound that problem with a poor upbringing and you have a recipe for disaster. This is not first tragedy and it won't be the last because Black people are fucking slothful, angry, vendictive, crazy animals. Instead of dealing with their issues they lash outward when they need to be attacking inward. This is a nonstory. There will be more blood shed.
