TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDERS WARN: UPCOMING STREETCAR TOY TRAIN REBID WILL RESULT IN CITY HALL LAWSUIT!!!

The Kansas City Toy Train Streetcar is already on the wrong track.

To wit . . .

BEHIND THE SCENES, KANSAS CITY INSIDERS WARN CITY COUNCIL THAT THE INEVITABLE STREETCAR REBID COULD OPEN UP CITY HALL TO A HUGE LIABILITY EVEN WORSE THAN COUNCILMAN BROOKS AND HIS SEXTING MANCHICKEN!!!

The Biz Journal hints at the rebid that's more than just a possibility . . .

KC Council may put brakes on streetcar construction contract

Now here's the insider scoop . . .

BRILLIANT TKC TIPSTERS tell us:

"It's already a done deal, (Councilman) Sharp has enough votes to stop this thing and what he doesn't realize is that he is giving Herzog more than a justifiable reason to sue. You can't just cancel contracts because your union benefactors don't like it. The Heavies don't care if Kansas City ends up adding a few million in legal fees. It's all profit as far at they're concerned."

And so . . . So many Kansas City hipsters and toy train advocates should realize that union political alliances and big time donors have now hijacked the warm fuzzies that started this toy train initiative. Now the game is all about getting Kansas City construction and consulting contracts with little concern for transit and "green" hype touted by the twits like @Stabio who helped ram though this thing like it was neighborhood activism and not just business as usual for this town's union bosses, big biz and political elite.

  5. "Brilliant TKC Tipsters" fed you this line of bs? Ha, ha, you're a dope for printing garbage like this. Sounds like some KCMO staffer; they raise the issue about being sued constantly to get their way. Fact is the staff set up a crap "bid" process to get the contractor they wanted to build the streetcar. For them the end justifies the means. Note that KCMO Public Works guy Ralph Davis told the Star recently that it's the same process used to select the contractor to build the Sprint Center. Really? The city wanted out of town Mortenson to build Sprint and they devised a process to get it done. Does that make it clear enough? The "brilliant tipster" also trashes city council dude Sharp for trying to avoid another cluster like the Crime Lab which is already over cost-using the same process. Not mentioned by T's tipster is that the streetcar "winning bid" has a 20% cost over-run tacked on to their bid; so instead of a $70 million job, it will be more like $84 million. The tipster didn't mention that, did they? You'll also hear that delays will endanger federal funding of the project. Here's a reality check: there are no federal funds dedicated for this project yet. So a delay to take a closer, harder look at the bids is just looking out for how you spend public money the best way to benefit the citizens. Doesn't sound like the tipster is brilliant, just another city wonk carrying out City Manager Schulte's behind the scenes games with taxpayer money. Better get your info elsewhere T.
