TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDERS LEAK DETAILS OF THE $12 MILLION WATER CONTRACT!!!
Despite Kansas City Mayor Sly James promising "Reform and Repair" of Kansas City Infrastructure following one of the myriad of tax increases he has helped to impose on residents, a HUGE $12 MILLION initiative for Water Department customer service improvements continues to create controversy.
And now . . .
THE MOST BRILLIANT AND KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS OFFER JUST A BIT OF INSIGHT REGARDING THE SCOPE OF THE $12 MILLION WATER DEPARTMENT CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTRACT NOW ON HOLD BUT STILL UNDER CONSIDERATION!!!
Here are just a few facts and figures circulating around City Hall:
- The contract calls for $3 million-a-year for 3 years paid mostly to The West Monroe Partners L.L.C., a Chicago-based consulting firm. In other words, that's a sweet $9 Million in order to encourage Water Dept. Helpfulness.
- The remaining $3 million would be spent on overhauling Water Department customer service computer systems, buying new equipment and replacing tech infrastructure.
- And of course . . . Just about every City Hall Insider who hears the details of this big money award is PISSED.
Side note . . . Like most City Hall legislation nowadays, insiders begrudgingly acknowledge that there's no MBE/WBE assurances built into this big money deal. But I digress . . .
Another fun fact . . . The hopeful Chicago firm has been in town for the past few weeks in an attempt to secure the deal. Even better/worse . . . Kansas City Insiders tell us that they're already working for the City on another contract.
Most quizzically of all . . .
More than a few City Hall Insiders are openly questioning why this deal was run through the Finance, Governance and Ethics Committee rather than Transportation and Infrastructure . . . ??? Given that this cash prize pertains to Kansas City Infrastructure.
So what have we learned?
ACCORDING TO KANSAS CITY INSIDERS . . . THE VAST MAJORITY OF THIS CRAZY EXPENSIVE $12 MIL CUSTOMER SERVICE EFFORT WAS GOING TO BE PAID DIRECTLY TO CONSULTANTS!!!
And at least for the moment, yet another expensive scheme from Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo has been delayed.
Developing . . .
Sounds like one heck of a grift. It'll make the $15k look like small potatoes TKC.
ReplyDeleteWill you stop shoving these stupid dead tree media whores in our face Tony enough is enough already!
ReplyDeleteIts ho not whore. Get with the times moron!
ReplyDeleteJust block the element with your adblock and the pic will vanish. Works like a charm.
ReplyDeleteThis is fucking criminal! If the audit doesn't find it, then maybe a whistle blower in City Hall will have the guts to do so. Man, this just sucks!
ReplyDeleteJust put Circo in a canoe and shove it out one of those sewage canals going into the mo river downtown. Bye! Have a nice trip!
ReplyDeleteRuh Roh!
ReplyDelete$3,000,000 per year for consulting? At $200 per hour that would be 8 persons working full time for just KCMO. No way a water department is so complicated that it takes 24 years of consulting to fix it.
ReplyDeleteWake up people
ReplyDeleteWhen a consultant was sent in to overhaul the NYC Pension Fund they looted over a billion dollars
ReplyDeleteI am really sick of Methtown corruption infesting our fair city through Cindy Baker (Circo) and Mike Sanders. Throw them the fuck back out to their horde of toothless tribesmen.
ReplyDeleteYou voted for these people, you get what you deserve. Where's all the infrastructure repairs that all those taxes were passed for? It's going somewhere, but it's not for repairing the city.
ReplyDeleteWest Monroe was founded by ex Arthur Anderson consultants. Not exactly who I would want to hire.
ReplyDeleteThe irony of a no bid $12 million contact flying through an "ethics" committee is shocking. Oh wait, I live in KC. Its not shocking. I was thinking of moving to Mexico where there's a higher moral standard than here. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteGood God!!! That's outrageous!!!
ReplyDeleteCindy is trying to get a payday you all hush now.
ReplyDeletePlease put Circo and Sanders in Solitary Confinement for the next 50 years please before the damage becomes to great to repair. If they want to be cellmates fine but just get it done.
ReplyDeleteThis is your brain on a Catholic High School education and state-licensed nail trade apprenticeship program.
ReplyDeleteYou could hire one person to turn these customer service problems around at a small fraction of the cost. This is outright fraud-theft by any standard.
ReplyDeleteLet's be Progressive! Ain't it sweet. Sit down and shut up.
ReplyDeleteJust ignore the blatant fraud, waste mismanagement, and gross malfeasance folks and everything will be fine.
ReplyDeleteThank You For Your Vote!
We can find and hunt down Bin Laden but the authorities can't see the obvious going on down at City Hall huh?
ReplyDeleteThe company is like a horde of locusts, they'll come in, eat, liquefy, digest every piece of cash in sight, and there will be nothing left but another wreck for the taxpayers-bag holders to deal with.
ReplyDeleteOk, all you genius' out there, what is the fucking answer?? We're all fairly certain about malfeasance and other nonsense being afoot at City Hall so NOW, what the hell can we do about it?? Really, what can be done....Obviously, voting doesn't do it so, what now!?
ReplyDeleteConsultants can't fire people and no matter how smart they are if the department is stuck with lazy stupid employees it will still suck.
ReplyDeleteLook for a lot of fancy reports, recommendations using every current buzzword and then nothing much changes.
2:52- Initiative petition process for state audit.
ReplyDelete"initiative petition" is just another way of saying "tough luck"...
ReplyDeleteHell of a nice job Tony.
ReplyDeleteHell of a nice job.
ReplyDeleteWest Monroe Partners is a Seattle, WA company with offices in, among other cities, Chicago. Google it and get its web site.
