SHOCK!!! OVERLAND PARK DUDE MARTIN MANLEY METICULOUSLY DOCUMENTS SUICIDE ON CRAPPY WEBSITE!!!

A tragic tale to start the Friday Kansas City news-cycle . . .

THE STORY OF AN OVERLAND PARK DUDE DOCUMENTING HIS SUICIDE IS BLOWING UP ALL OVER THE INTERNETS!!!

Here's what TKC TIPSTERS have to say on the unfortunate topic . . .

Martin Manley committed suicide at the Overland Park PD on 8/15

"Yesterday morning, a man committed suicide at the Overland Park PD. Not much was followed up on it but I came across a posting on Reddit this morning before coming into work. Mr. Manley created a website on the 14th detailing his reasoning and thoughts on life. Yahoo is experiencing issues at the time of writing this with hosting the page so a mirror is set up here.

Its a grim topic but its local. Although the sexting scandal is far more interesting. Have a good day."

Another Tipster tells us:

"He worked for the KC Star sports dept and wrote a stats column. Left the star in the first half of last year."

The morbid money quote:

"Lastly, at some point in reading this site you would have asked whether I was ultimately satisfied with my life, so I decided this was the best place to address it. I suspect nobody is completely satisfied and I'm no different. No, I wasn't fully satisifed with my life, but I was fully satisfied with my death!"

Reddit: A 60 year old committed suicide today, but before doing so, he put this website up.

  2. I don't think your readers will show much compassion TKC.

    ReplyDelete
  3. so was he Harley?

    ReplyDelete
  4. TKC readers have more compassion than any church on any given sunday.

Good for Martin getting the fuck out of Overland Park. Someone admits it sucks living your life in Johnson County.

I'm all for it. No since hanging around on this rock any longer than anyone to.

You Ayn Rand fans may disagree and say live life until the trust fund runs out. Or run to the social safety net like Ayn Rand did at the end of her miserable life.

But with all the pricks and cunts we have had to deal with all our lives. If suicide is the only way to say fuck you assholes I'm gonna blow this pop stand. Then so be it.

Maybe we'll have a chad roger concert for him at the Midland

you seem discontented with life. Need a bullet?

  7. And i found out about his crappy website from this crappier website

  8. Geez... I've never cried about something I read on TKC but this did it. I shouldn't have clicked the link but morbid curiosity got the better of me. Very sad. But at the same time, I get it and I believe a person has the right to terminate their life if that is their decision after lengthy consideration and providing they have no children still at home. Seems like this guy thuroughly considered all that ending his life meant. It still makes me very sad.

  9. Hope he had the time of his life.

A shame to give up. He should have thought about it better.

  10. 802 sez

  11. Do you try to outlive your enemies just to say good the bastards dead or do you leave a short note like Martin

    ReplyDelete
  12. I didn't think the site was crappy. Pretty well put together for a 59 year old. What did you expect? Had a story as well.

About as well put together as your blog. At least his is original content and not others accounts.

  13. Speaking of crappy websites.... what a dick.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I just read the entire website and think that while it's a shame this guy's gone, he seemed to be a real class act! Good for him, he got to choose and do it "his way". His appeared to be a "life well lead" and mostly on his own terms. My hat is off to Mr. Manley. Rest in peace, sir.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Sounds like somebody who seems to think that he can control everything surrounding his death.
No. You are dead. All that you accomplished was dying and creating a youtube that everyone will forget in a month. And you know what? You'll still be dead.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You sir are the pot calling the kettle black but I assume you think you site is a masterpiece. Anyway, this guy went out on his own terms and in his own way which is something I bet 99% of people dont have the guts and fortitude to do.

  17. Suicide is not a rational decision. Suicide is a symptom of depression, which can be treated. Sad, unnecessary death.

    1. He made it very clear he was not depressed or otherwise mentally ill. Maybe try reading his story before jumping to conclusions and generalizing his exit strategy.

  18. Very strange. This is his sports blog. He was still writing about everyday stuff like the Royals just a couple days Prior.

  20. What about the fucktad

    Chad Rogers.

  21. Chad was a godly man

    he loved god

  22. Damn this is right up there with Kelly Jones making herself a Kansas City star......Next?

    ReplyDelete
  23. There's some necrophiliac wet dream going on here

    ReplyDelete
  24. So the star fired him because there's a guy in India who can crunch the baseball stats. He's out of work and shaking fries is a slow death. Your joints hurt like they've never hurt before and you get burned with hot grease. So what are his choices. Does anyone really want to sleep under a bridge. Hear what the douchie's say about homeless people. If it's a little hard for people to swallow this society sucks and it's not the greatest country in the world just the biggest fat fucking military then just wait because there are going to be more creative ways to commit suicide.. no go with jesus assholes

  25. People should read Mr. Manley's words prior to making lame comments here. His decision may not meet some people's moral standards, but he was free to do it his way. The website of his carefully collected thoughts --logical and precise-- might become a celebration of a life lived and not just a morbid curiosity for web rubberneckers.

My condolences to those who will miss him, may his memory live on in your hearts.

  26. Buried treasure located in Overland Park KS. Check suicide preface point #3...

  27. Absolutely 2:33. This was just a quality guy, calling his own ending. More power to him!! May he and his family have peace.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I read Martins words on the webz and I wasn't touched at all. At my age there's been a lot of people around to commit suicide

    ReplyDelete
  29. all of you assholes will be with Chad Rogers and jesus soon

So Byron when can we expect an un-rational decision by you?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Apparently Mr. Wonderful lied about the buried treasure. What else is he lying about?

    ReplyDelete
  32. @9:19 and 3:02 Right on! We have enough bullshit to put up with. This guy made the call right for him. At least he got to do what HE wanted instead of some asshole telling him AGAIN and AGAIN how much to pay for mental health care. He didn't need it. He was just done! And so are most of us if we all told the fucking truth about it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think most people wont admit it, but you WILL read his website. Regardless of any(one)opinion, this man completed the main task he set out to do, which was die HIS way.

If you take the time to read he covered everything HE felt he needed to: answer why, apologize to whomever he felt fit, acknowledge what and who he was grateful for, ensure anyone (if in doubt) he was, of what HE thought, in sound mind and controlling his life, and lastly.... leave his own legacy, for at least 5 years at HIS own cost.

This man deserves the publicity, however long it lasts. (Right or Wrong)His loved ones.... they deserve respect for the death of their brother, friend, and colleague. Most don't get to say or hear goodbye. He knew he was dying for over a year and treated everyone around him as such, and was clearly content with his last encounters with them. He also ensured they heard from him, he loves them, they couldn't of changed this, and he's sorry if they hurt, not sorry he made the decision.

    He succeeded regardless.

    Sir....
I pray your last wish of donation was provided to as many waiting recipients of Organ Transplant. My nephew was tragically killed and he saved many lives with his newly issued license where he checked YES for donation (unbeknownst to his mother/father) on his application for license. Although he never got to drive on his own to use it, his license was still a key role in his short life. I pray you did the same and God Blesses those recipients and families to see them through.

May God Be With You Sir.

  34. Byron are you depressed? Is that why you assume identities of the brothers of politicians you've never met and never will meet? Is that why you troll blog sites from other cities and make inane comments?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Byron, suicide is hardly a symptom of depression, you dolt. More like a result.
By the way, I'm willing to pay your membership dues to the Hemlock Society.

  36. Too bad this wasn't Harley, I just had a huge burrito from Panchos and wanted to take a big ole dump on this grave.
