KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN CRASH!!! LAWSUITS COULD DERAIL DOWNTOWN STREETCAR!!!

So, all of the Kansas City happy-go-lucky feelings about promoting transit while stomping on Democracy have now turned sour.

Just as we predicted . . .

THE KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR IS NOW MIRED IN A LEGAL BATTLE OVER BIDDING CASH!!!

A snippet . . .

"Kiewit-Clarkson Infrastructure Co. has filed a formal challenge after coming in second in the bidding to become construction manager. The winning bid came from St. Joseph-based Herzog Contracting Corp. and California-based rail contractor Stacy and Witbeck Inc."

Yesterday we noted the very real lawsuit that's on deck if Kansas City gives into the Union powered call to rebid.

And so . . .

YET AGAIN KANSAS CITY SPECIAL INTERESTS ARE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT MONEY THAN ALL OF THE WARM FUZZY TRANSIT PROPAGANDA PUSHED BY TOY TRAIN NITWITS LIKE STAUBIO!!!

What's worse is that local money grubbing fight is taking precedence over the fact that the Toy Train did nothing but stop on Kansas City Democracy and even further erode confidence in local officials.

  1. But.

    I.

    Thought.

This would make KC the BEST

    That's what the mayor said.

  2. If they ever start building this thing, there will be even more lawsuits from businesses who lose money and people who are injured on the rail, etc.

...right about the time Mayor Sly goes back to practicing law.

  3. Oh my I feel bad for the 375 pipe dreamers who voted for this thing!

  4. We should put Staubio in a small boat and shove it out of one of those sewage runoff canals downtown and be done with hit.

Enjoy your free trip to the Gulf Of Mexico Staub!

  5. Put Brooks in there with him. "Free" vacation for two.

  6. TRAFFIC ENGINEER, paid for by your tax dollars8/17/13, 10:22 AM

Can we have the train run to/from St. Joseph, so when I go downtown to the Power & Light District, or a game at Sprint Center, I can just board the train and ride down and back? Also have the train run to the Plaza and Crown Center so I can do some shopping?

I know it won't happen - but I hope my comments here irritate you people. And if it does, what do you people think you're going to do about it? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!

  7. It looks to me like the real reason the toy train was weaseled through was for future bragging rights by a select few. You know, down the road "oh yes I was involved in this great train".

Its like a mayors pissing match between different cities.

  8. Whatever happened to those hover cars and Jetson like communities we were all going to be enjoying they were promoting in ads back in the 50's?

  11. If Sly has enough money to waste on a trolley, he has enough to get rid of the earnings tax. That would get some jobs back to KCMO.

  12. These clowns at city hall need to be shown that the taxpayers are going to demand that they stop wasting money and leaving the people on the hook for their screw ups. We need to do away with the EDC, put big projects to a vote of the people who will have to pay for them and require a standard bid procedure that could include special provisions for special skills but must be transparent.

  14. The mid town area has some major supply problems (gas, water, buried cable, etc.) going back to the olden years under union station. Unless someone wants another J.j.'s explosion and some OSHA fines, yeah, go ahead and dig around. Google isn't going to risk it, and they are rabbit headed hippie morons. So the whole thing will be called off, and they will have to come up with ANOTHER excuse to explain this toy train car away.

  15. Another debacle brought to you by Sherri McIntyre and the public works department!

  16. This, unlike Stretch and Sue's stupid tantrum, is an actual lawsuit.

It will not however, stop the construction. It would just result in a rebid.

The moron who think the eliminating the etax would "bring jobs back" is deluded. The etax has nothing to do with job loss, which is the result of economic and demographic shifts beyond the city's control coupled with outrageous corporate welfare that is bankrupting the state of Kansas to prop up the ponzi scheme that is Johnson County.

And the dipshit who think business cans sue because the streetcar costs them business is a man with zero understanding of business, enterprise or the law.

    END OF COMMENT THREAD.
