Kansas City Teacher's Union Hates New Computers For Public School Scholars

Already we've heard about the KCPS 1:1 Initiative that will bring a laptop/tablet to every student in the District.

Now . . . It's surprising to hear that Kansas City Teacher's Union leaders don't like the idea:

"The president of the teachers union, which represents KCPS teachers, said the quick rollout of the plan, with little teacher input, is a recipe for failure.

"If you think throwing a computer at [students] in August and letting them take it home is going to automatically cure all the evils of this district, then you are clueless," Andrea Flinders told the board."

As always, standing in the way of tech is a bad ideas and opposition was quickly smacked down by the tall white lady on the School Board who we all pray will never run for City Council.

And so, like it or not, high tech made by slave labor in China once again stays winning over collective bargaining in the United States.

  2. Andrea Flinders is NOT opposed to this progra. In fact she is very much in favor of it. She simply wants the district to implement it in a well planned and organized fashion, which isn't happening.

  3. Tony, please post facts.
Flinders is very much in favor of the new program however, the district is rushing through it(expensive)and is not taking the time to implement it via a strong program such as those in outlining districts. This is not rocket science, but another high cost throw that if not done correctly will not gain positive results.

  4. Translation the union as predicted is against anything that would actually solve the problems of urban education. TKC nailed it all Flinders cares about is money, shes pissed because the near technology illiterate teachers in her union would have to spend an extra hour or two in training. Boo-hoo suck it up and lets start to turn the page! And well done tall white lady on the school board!

  8. Every fucking one of these will end up on Craigslist, a pawn shop, or traded for crack. What a waste. Has Central High School not been enough proof?

  9. It's about selling products and then replacement products. It's not about education. Real education would bring trouble for the city. Education only provides whistle blowers these days.
