BILL SESSION MINORITY CERTIFICATION COSTS KANSAS CITY BIG TIME!!!

Kansas City Biz Journal breaks an important story . . . "City never should have issued a minority-business certification to an excavating company owned by lawyer Bill Session, according to a city audit to be released Wednesday. The hasty approval of minority business enterprise (MBE) status for TWS Technical Services LLC in 2007 caused qualified firms to lose out on millions of dollars of work at the former Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base, the report says."

And while haters might trash minority hiring altogether . . . This is really more of a revelation of YET ANOTHER messed up City Hall process . . .

Why not? Isn't hear part of the Freedon Inc, Urban Summit, Black Agenda Group? All of his friends playing politics, passing out contracts and making recommendations. Maybe hire him as a consultant if he can't get the contract.

  6. Bill Session has nothing to do with any of those groups 12:42. Why don't you just tell us that you are completely out of the loop and don't know what you're talking about.

    Go read the paper Grandpa.

  8. Somebody didn't do their homework. The Port Authority didn't hire Sessions contracting firm. It didn't hire Kissick or Dunn, either. Centerpoint, the private developer, did. BUT, they were supposed to follow MBE guidlines.

At least that's what the press said a couple of years ago.

  9. The entire Port Authority should have been CANNED for allowing Sessions, who CLEARLY had insider knowledge. to obtain such a plum contract when he actually had LITERALLY no experience for the Scope of Work.

Shame on Mike Burke in particular. I'll bet Bill Session was a contributor to Burke's mayoral campaign.

  10. 7:32- Read the article dumbass.

Port Authority signed a development agreement with CenterPoint. Months later, CenterPoint hires JE Dunn to do the site development work. JE Dunn subcontracts the dirt work to Kissick. Kissick hires Session to do, well, whatever it was that Session did. Session had no equipment on the site. No personnel. Not even a marked vehicle. Port Authority had no knowledge Session was working at RG until well AFTER CenterPoint, Dunn and Kissick had snuck him onto the job.. In fact, Session's was largely a paper presence orchestrated, controlled and directed by CenterPoint, Dunn and Kissick.

Exactly how did the Port Authority ALLOW Session to obtain the contract?

If anything, the Port Authority was guilty of failing to include clawback provisions in the development agreement with CenterPoint - an agreement that Session negotiated and authored.

Here's a link on Bill Sessions. He's a white guy and well maybe that's why he wasn't entitled to be listed or enriched as a minority contractor. He's as white as a ghost and they site says he was actually an FBI employee. Interesting...

  12. Still blame freedom inc. he probably is a member there. That group only accepts checks they don't check pulses or skin color. It's all about the money.
