SHOCK!!! GOLDEN GHETTO COUPLE WON'T SHUT UP ABOUT THE FACT THEY WERE TREATED LIKE SUSPECTS JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER BROKE-ASS WHITE PERSON AND MINORITY IN THIS NATION AT SOME POINT!!!

NBC Action News covers the SEEMINGLY ENDLESS COMPLAINTS from a JoCo family who are insulted the they're suspects and that they got a taste of the real world for just an instant: From an innocent shopping trip to a false drug test, new court documents reveal what triggered a traumatic and fruitless raid of a Leawood family's home.

TKC Reminder: The working poor of every race have more in common with each other than they ever will with the 1%.

  3. Good Gawd, Tony. Set your biases about Johnson County and Leawood aside and look at the documented facts.

A Missouri Highway Patrolman saw this guy making perfectly legal purchases for a hydroponic garden at a perfectly legal business in the River Market, and alerted the JoCo Sheriff's Department.

Deputies then rummage through the families trash and allegedly found plant material that allegedly tested positive for marijuana, which they used as "probable cause" to get a search warrant and raid the home.

Then they found out that the family was growing vegetables. So they re-tested the original plant material found in the trash at the crime lab and it came up negative.

Unfortunately, the sheriff's department picked on a family with the means to hire an attorney and fight back. You can bet your bippy that his case will be settle long before questions about the original "field test" are ever put before a jury, who just might decide that the cops were lying to get the search warrant.

Let's hope this family teaches the JoCo Sheriff's Dept., and all over-eager cops, an expensive lesson for which we should all be grateful.

But let's suppose this was a lower middle class Wyandotte County family who hired an attorney on a contingency basis and the same set of facts emerged.

What's the tone of your post then?

  4. Why should they shut up? These are the kind of people who can show how stupid and wasteful of tax dollars these tactics and the "war on drugs" are.

  6. Same thing happened to a friend of mine. He bought some supplies at Green Circle, and two weeks later got a knock at his door. He voluntarily consented to a search, and of course nothing was found but seedlings for his vegetable garden. 8 men, two hours and 16 man hours wasted on the home search alone. Is it any wonder crime is rampant on the East side when cops are spending their time doing shit like this?

  7. I wonder if they conduct surveillance at other gardening shops. After all, the Grass Pad's High on Grass, right?

  8. Marijuana is legal in seventeen states. Some states are freer than others. How can this be right?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Now the real question: Die the original cutting test positive or did they just want them to test positive?

  10. You know, arguments about the legality of marijuana aside for the moment, even if the cops shut down every hydroponic indoor pot farm in the Greater Kansas City area down by watching the comings and goings from stores selling this equipment, it wouldn't make a dent in the supply of pot reaching this city.

But it sure makes a nice story when they bust one.

  11. First 7:58, that's the question that will never get to a jury.

But what's really sad here is that Tony has allowed his biases about Johnson County to color his reaction to the real story here.

  12. How Occupyish of Tony. You might be spending too much time prancing around the basement in your Che T shirt and underoos. Most of the people in leawood don't fall under the 1 percentile, or even 2 percentile. But lets overlook the fact that these people had their fucking home invaded. They are white, not on welfare, and live in JoCo, so they deserve whatever happens to them.

  13. 8:12, don't forget that the Occupy folks apparently told Tony to stop hanging around and bugging them, so he's got his nose out of joint about them, too.

The owner of the hydroponics store in the River Market isn't happy his customers are being watched.

"Why should they be?" asked Bennie Palmentere. "This isn't a communist country."

Did he vote for Barry Soetoro, the Marxist-in-Chief?

  16. Bernie needs to get his isms straight. This kind of activity is fascism, but can we say in all honesty, "This isn't a fascist country?"

  17. These people are not part of the 1%, and nobody deserves this insanity. Can you imagine Tony's howling if they showed up at his Mom's house and did this kind of raid?

  18. If this happened to Tony, he'd find a way to blame both Sly James and the Fire Department.
