Craig Glazer And The Kansas City Weekend

Kansas City plans a big weekend despite cloud cover and cooler temps. We'll start with a note from our pal Craig Glazer and a few other weekend links afterward. . .

The American Idol: Brian Dunkleman

Handling a bad situation well. Brian Dunkleman was handed the best of times and the worst of times in one fell swoop. Eleven years ago he tried out to be the host of Fox’s ‘American Idol’. Brian, along with Ryan Seacrest, won those starting spots. The two hosts would join judges Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul as the season one stars of what would soon be the most watched TV sensation of all time. Dunkleman was the funnier of the two on stage hosts. At the end of Season 1, Brian had issues with the way the young contestants were treated by the judges and staff and he also wanted to pursue more of a comedic/acting career, but he did accept one more season of American Idol: Rewind before moving on to such series as ‘My Name is Earl’, ‘Friends’ and ‘Celebrity Fit Club’. This past fall, Brian did his first one hour Showtime special as well.

Dunkleman has added a new wrinkle, ala Andy Kauffman. Brian comes out early in the show with thick glasses and his hair slicked back as an oddball comic and opens for himself. It’s unique and very funny. His real co-starring act is Aaron Branch. Aaron is one of the more talked about local comedians because he is just 17 years old and a former winner of the Funniest New Comic in KC competition. This high school senior beat out over 100 comics two years ago to win that competition. Who knows? He might be the next Kevin Hart.

So if you are looking for something fun to do and a little bit different this weekend, check out these two comedy talents this Friday and Saturday night here at Stanford & Sons Comedy Club. They will be doing two shows nightly, 7:45 pm and 9:45 pm. Stanfords also has a 7 pm show Sunday. As an added bonus, you get to see me open the shows on Friday and Saturday. Enjoy!

  11. Glazer is a major negative to your otherwise excellant blog.

  12. Hey, mean people with no lives, each week we will bring you some information on the comedian at Stanford and Sons. Some people like to know. Everyone is not a legend or a super star, but all our headliners are of note for their tv shows, films, or just being a well known comic. We sometimes help the young guys on the way up out by giving them a shot. That's the way it works. If that isn't interesting to you, oh well.

I do appreciate the kind words of some of you regarding the posts. I have done a few lately that were not so 'edgy' but those are coming back. Gave you a minute to breath, but now its time for some fun. Summer is coming, I hope, so some hot ones are on the way....

IN fact you will be interested to know Pitch Weekly is hanging with me this weekend to get an update on my and Stanfords. Should be a feature story in a couple weeks, I'm sure you guys will love that one.
Welp got to go to work now. Enjoy.

  13. Cool Craig. Thank you for sharing. I will be at your club when Dante is there in a couple weeks.

  14. I don't get it explain why Glazer is a negative? Just don't get it at all. His stories are good, he is well known, what is it that is so bad? As for me I enjoy the stories and have to admit the hate comments are kinda fun too. Saw Dunk Man two or three years ago at Stanfords, guy is funny.

  15. Jealous jerks 6:46. That's all. Nothing more.

  16. Glazer for the win:

"Hey, mean people with no lives"

Credit where it's due. That one made me LOL and certainly puts things in the right perspective.

Also, Brian is a great guy and deserves a look. Craig is a good man for giving him a shot.

  17. I'm sure the Manor Square people will be thrilled that you are back in their building. Picnics attract ants. Glazer in Westport attracts niggers.

  18. Despite bring mean people with no lives, they must be important to cg. He seems endlessly preoccupied with their comments no matter the time of day.

  19. No I'm not looking for or need your advise about something fun to do and a little bit different this weekend.

People with limited intelligence may but I'm not one of them.

  20. Follow you? You can't be serious. I've already been to hell and back enough times and I've certainly have no desire to be led there again.

  21. The Dover Twins (Ben Dover and Eileen Dover)5/3/13, 8:03 PM

I doubt "Chet" and "Hugh Hock" really exist. Your writers need to come up with some more imaginative names, Glazer.

  24. Oh I can see the comments in the Pitch now. But will the Pitch allow roid boy to lose it and not delete it?

    ReplyDelete
  25. See what I mean, comments about nothing but hate, for no reason.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The Pitch is for sure hurting if following Glazer around for a weekend is best they can do for a story. 10:31 Not hate! just truth and the facts. People don't hate Craig they just see him for what he really is and remind him of it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah T, how come Glaze is giving the Pitch the inside story on moving back to Westport? Ask your awesome tipsters for some info about the Beaumont Club and the newest cast of characters that are gonna stiff the landlord.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't understand how Glazer runs a business, when he spends all of his time planting fake comments on here. What a pathetic douche.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Glaze is an equal opportunity media whore, 11:32. He's paying Tony to put something here each Friday. Probably has some kind of trade-out with SouthComm, too. Gotta make sure Glazer and his ego reach the 237 people who read the print version of the Pitch.

  30. Craig you sure a popular guy. Heard you on radio a couple times last week, you are everywhere pal. Don't let these jerks who comment on here piss you off, they are losers, I'm sure of that.
