TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY HATES WALMART BUT KCFD PARTNERS WITH THE MEGASTORE ON FACEBOOK!!!

Kansas City Fire Department is taking a great deal of heat on their recent social media marketing effort with Walmart.

To wit . . .

FACEBOOK ADVERTISEMENTS FEATURING WALMART AND THE KANSAS CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT HAVE EVOKED A BURNING RAGE FROM LOCAL RESIDENTS!!!

Anybody with even a modicum of understanding of the department can see that this advert is horribly produced . . . It reads:

"Local Kansas City firefighters + Walmart Choice Premium Steak = one great lunchtime cook-off! Stop by our store at 8551 N Boardwalk Ave on April 27th to watch a great lunchtime grilling battle plus a live concert with Joey & Rory! www.walmart.com/steak"

Like it or not, it's a fact that KCFD is constantly criticized by fiscal hawks for stuff like cookouts on the job - So this promotion just seems to be in bad taste.

Check the comments on this FB advert and it's clear that locals don't like the idea of public servants parading around their social media space.

Even worse, the photo in the promotion features FD from Florida.

All things considered, it's a pretty horrible advert that negatively impacts KCFD and reminds locals of a great many longstanding complaints.

DEVELOPING . . .

  1. Lordy, Tony. If this upsets you, you must be pissed off 24/7.

    Couple of things:

    1. If KC hates Wal-Mart so much, how come all their parking lots are always full?

    2. Firefighters have got to eat sometime during their shift. Would you rather they all leave the station and go to a restaurant?

    ReplyDelete
  2. the comments are hilarious. never seen so much hate directed toward kcfd. looks like people are still mad about jjs.

    ReplyDelete
  3. "Choice Premiun Steak" for lunch? No wonder they're all fat.

    ReplyDelete
  4. And I thought they had a partnership with Price Chopper. At Truman Corners during the day when one firetruck leaves another takes its place. Sometimes they are there at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  5. 9:31

You mena they are shopping at the Truman Corners Price Chopper in Grandview?!

That would mean that a Kansas City Missouri tax payer funded piece of fire apparatus and crew are not even in their own city while on duty.

I would be more outraged by that fact than by them shopping.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Kansas City does not hate Walmart. A few dedicated nutcases hate Walmart. Just like the n-word guy hates blacks. There are so few politically correct targets of unreasonable hate left today. Walmart just happens to be one. For now.

    ReplyDelete
  7. East side of the south side is a bit of a grocery store desert. If you know the city, the Grandview PC is closer to 42's service area then the crappy PC at Blue Ridge and Bannister. Pumper 1, stationed at the old Richards-Gabuer (sp?) base, may be better served going to Wal-Mart at 133rd and State Line as would 45. Station 41 should be going to the PC at Blue Ridge and Bannister.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Now why do I think that the fire trucks you see at the Grandview Price Chopper might actually be Grandview fire trucks?

    ReplyDelete
  9. 9:56

Grandview fire trucks don't have "KCFD" emblems on the side of them.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Well, as explained above, that particular Price Chopper might be closer than any particular supermarket to that particular station.

    I have no idea.

But I'm not going to lose much sleep worrying about where KC firefighters do their grocery shopping, or worrying that they are having a cookout with the public at a Walmart.

After all, we have Tony to rail about such outrages, real or imagined.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Most of Grandview's fleet is yellow too, although they have been transitioning back to red, especially in the ambulance fleet.

    ReplyDelete
  12. KCFD needs to spend less time on cookouts and more on re-training for what to do in case of a natural gas leak.

    ReplyDelete
  13. God forbid these over paid, under worked public "servants" just pack a fucking brown bag with lunch BEFORE they leave for work each day, like most people in the private sector do everyday. Maybe then they would have more time to figure out the problems with response times of the ambulances north of the river.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Damn when I was on the job we planned our meals in advance and did our shopping before shifts. A pumper was never ran down the street to the grocery store. You begged someone off duty to make the run or drove your POV to get food. None of this stopping at QuikTrips and such for treats when in route back to the station either. Lots of taxpayers money wasted on trucks running up and down the roads for no reason now days not to mention wear and tear. You firefighters now days are a bunch of whinny spoiled brats.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 10:25

"Most people" don't work 24 hour shifts and therefore eat all three meals of the day at their work.

    ReplyDelete
  16. No brown bagging won't work that's why the stations have kitchens for the cooking but it appears some stations don't use them as much as they eat out while trucks sit in parking lot idling to keep the heaters going so the cab is warm after stuffing their face for an hour.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Stupid Dave speaks shit.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wonder why no thrill seeker has taken an idling firetruck on a joyride just because they could?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well rather easy to spot might be one reason.

    ReplyDelete
  20. 10:52 - Gotta call Bullshit. Firemen could pack three meals for their 24 hour shift if they would just plan ahead. Your argument is weak!

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's happened with ambulances, just google "stolen ambulance" and see results.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 12:10, I gotta call idiot.

There is nothing wrong with firefighters cooking themselves a hot meal.

God, I'm glad I don't work for a bastard like you.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It is worth noting to our readers that have short memories that the reason why you hate the KCFD is that you were sued for libel and had to settle out of court and post a public apology here.

    Full disclosure and whatnot.

Now tell us again how the BBQ grill for charity is evil?

    ReplyDelete
  24. KCFD never sued for libel dipshit.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Nope, but the head of their union sure did.

And nowhere in 1:02's post did he say that the KCFD sued Tony, dipshit.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I noticed no link to the facebook page which makes me wonder if this is a work of fiction or non fiction. Where's the link to the supposed facebook page?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Maybe, Tony hates the KCFD because they've corrupted city hall.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yep, how dare they unionize and bargain collectively for better wages, benefits and working conditions.

    How un-American.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Tony likes to play race politics and the only working class group still run mostly by whites in the city is the KCFD.

He doesn't like that they have an ear at city hall and have political power so he attacks them.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Maybe TKC doesn't like Walmart since they stopped serving slushies! Let's explore that option.

    ReplyDelete
  31. When is Sly going to make long overdue cuts at KCFD?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Never going to happen, they own him.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 12:55 - Again, gotta call Bullshit! Nobody said there is anything "wrong with firefighters cooking themselves a hot meal." Just plan ahead and take what you need before you go to work, like most everyone else in the free world does.

Tony and Rory.....aren't they stockers at the Liberty WalMart ?

    ReplyDelete
  35. KCFD/Local 42 - People in Kansas City don't hate you because you cooks steaks on the taxpayer's dime. They hate you because:

    1) You're a bunch of union thugs that keep getting unreasonably high pay raises.

    2) You are overstaffed, and underworked 4 fire figthers instead of 3 for every truck.

    3) Your union engineered the takeover of our perfectly functioning ambulance service just to pad the KCFD stats and now the ambulance response times are below the national standards and you don't know how to fix it.

    4) When you aren't being sued for sexually harassing female fire fighters in your own department, you are harassing the mothers, sisters or daughters of the average working man at the local Hy-Vee, Price Chopper, or Wal-Mart.

    5) Because the only thing you are good at saving these days, besides your bloated salaries, are basements and foundations of the properties you left burn to the ground. Case in point, the historic Kansas City landmark known as Westport Presbyterian.

For all these reasons and more, we hate your fucking guts. So, go play with your hoses you fucking union thugs, and quit wasting my tax dollars!!!

  36. 6:50, got to call idiot again.

    At 10:25, "nobody" wrote:

"God forbid these over paid, under worked public "servants" just pack a fucking brown bag with lunch BEFORE they leave for work each day."

At 12:10, after being reminded that firefighters work 24-hour shifts, "nobody" wrote:

"Firemen could pack three meals for their 24 hour shift if they would just plan ahead."

And now "nobody" says that the rest of the free world packs all the ingredients for cooking hot meals at work?

This is probably why you are "nobody."

    ReplyDelete
  37. Fireman are way over rated. There are other just as dangerous jobs that are not as glamorized. The KC fireman are living off the accomplishments of fireman of the early 1900's world competition. They are way over paid, also.

    ReplyDelete
  38. 8:42 - The fact that you are basing your arguments on semantics is an indication you've run out of legitimate arguments to support your position. You've lost this round of the debate. So, do yourself a favor and everyone else a favor, just stop arguing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. While most unions hate Walmart, Local 42 is condoning members participating with them in a BBQ? WTF?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well, 7:17, since you hate semantics so much, let's get back to the post instead of worrying when firefighters should buy their groceries and what they should eat during their shift.

Tony's got his panties in a wad because KC firefighters are participating with firefighters all over the country in a steak grilling contest, sponsored by Walmart.

I only wish that were the greatest problem confronting humanity today.

    ReplyDelete
  41. For a free steak Tony would suck their dicks. The fat boy isn't getting a freebie so its time to complain.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 'Check the comments on this FB advert and it's clear that locals don't like the idea of public servants parading around their social media space."

And once again, Tony jumps to broad conclusions based on scant evidence.

Tony, it's only "clear" that a handfull of people who comment on FB adverts feel the way you think everybody in KC feels.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Private sector employees have to brown bag their lunch?

Someone might want to tell all those restaurants that serve lunch, then, because apparently none of those customers are allowed to eat there.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It really doesn't matter if firefighters are at the grocery store or at the staion. EMS calls or car wrecks or fires happen everywhere, not just around fire stations. They are just as likely to be closer to a call at a grocery store than at the station.

It's just like when MAST used to park at quick trips, or why police cars drive around all day.
