THE KICK-ASS TKC BLOG COMMUNITY REVEALS THAT THE UPSTART INTERNETS TRANSIT AND APP COMPANY 'UBER' HAS ALREADY STARTED HIRING FOR THEIR VENTURE INTO THE KANSAS CITY MARKET!!!
Check the warning . . .
"Black town car service and transit app company Uber is on its way to Kansas City. They are hiring for a position in Chicago that will travel to KC as well. They are currently in Denver, Minneapolis, Dallas, and Chicago."
A KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER offers this important analysis:
"This is big news because Uber is known as a "disruptor" that often skirts the rules of local transportation regulation and makes cabbies very, very angry. Will be interesting to see if KC tries to fight them like what's happened in other markets."
Remember that not so long ago . . . All of the Somali cabbies complained in a lawsuit that Kansas City supported a "monopolistic system" in terms of transit regulation.
Now it seems that a bit of transit regulation will once again put that argument to the test.

ReplyDeleteSeveral weeks ago I needed a cab to pick me up that evening. I scheduled online and got a verification from Yellow Cab. I did this at 2pm in the afternoon requesting the cab to pick me up at my home at 6:00pm. 6:15pm rolled around and still no cab. I called and was told no one had been assigned to me yet and it would probably be another hour. I canceled and drove myself. This is the second and last time this has happened.
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine had the bartender call a cab for him one night at the bar and he waited for two hours and the Yellow Cab never showed up. The bartender had to drive my friend home because it was past closing time.

As I was reading that I imagined you telling that sad tale as you were slumped over a bar, the kind of cheap bars you see downtown that have padded doors with a lone porthole next to.it with thick glass and when that door opens the barflys cringe from the exposure to natural ligjt

ReplyDeleteI just moved back here form SF. I tried it out there. Pretty disappointed not really any more reliable than a cab and they want their $ up front with a tip in advance too.
