TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! FEAR OF THE KANSAS CITY ST. PADDY'S WEEKEND CRACKDOWN INSPIRES @KCCHECKPOINT TO SPEAK OUT!!!

First and foremost and before we even start . . .

WE'RE ALL AGREED THAT WE WANT KANSAS CITY TO BE CAREFUL AND STAY SAFE BEHIND THE WHEEL DURING ST. PADDY'S DAY WEEKEND!!!

It's just that methodologies and philosophies sometimes differ among locals.

Right now . . . There's a DUI crackdown on Kansas City streets amid the warmer weather weekend, Big 12 and St. Paddy's party-goers.

To wit . . .

WE HAVE AN EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS QUOTE IN RESPONSE TO THE CRACKDOWN FROM OUR FRIENDS @KCCHECKPOINT!!!

For the uninitiated, remember that this local Twitter power user has found an important niche providing public information on checkpoints around the metro.

On the subject of the current crackdown . . . Here's the money quote:

"@kccheckpoint: By this point last year the KCPD had already executed 3 DUI checkpoints, so far in 2013 they have done ZERO. All of the KCPD preaching about how important the DUI epidemic is went out the window when the state government GRANT money dried up. If it's so important and checkpoints are the solution, why not pay out of the general police budget? The simple answer is that government grant money is all that's important and it continues to drive intrusive behavior by our police departments. I salute the OPPD for their 1 non-grant saturation patrol and I encourage other PDs in the metro to follow their lead."

That is harsh but the quote shows a bit of insider knowledge and reveals the worldview that motivated the EXTREMELY POPULAR social media presence for KC Checkpoints. Read that quote again closely, really, it's advocating more regularly scheduled DUI checkpoints . . . Interesting and very thoughtful when compared to knee-jerk rage of some folks who just rant against cops trying to keep drunk drivers off the streets.

Again . . .

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO STAY SAFE THIS KANSAS CITY ST. PADDY'S WEEKEND!!!

Drinking and driving is never a good idea if only because multi-tasking is a lie put forth by the corporations and there's no use spilling good beer.

DEVELOPING . . .

  2. It is so much safer and easier for the police to do this, than to try to clean up murder-Zip codes. And the news media gets all cummy pants over it which makes the cops even more happy.

  9. that's a bit extreme. What i think is that people need to stop drinking and driving and them maybe there wouldn't be the need for so many checkpoints.

  10. Grover - Inconvenience and stomp on everyone else's rights because a few people are irresponsible?

Same BULLSHIT argument as banning guns from law-abiding citizens.

    Fuck the checkpoints.
    Fuck the Statists.
    Fuck the tyrants!

On the drunkest day in midtown you can expect DUI stops, checkpoints, and if you are lucky, a good ol cavity search and rubber hose beat down. So stay home or take a fuckin cab. It's one day. Calm down and go refold your Don't Tread On Me flag.
