KC Biz Journal: "Kansas City owes the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development almost $17.3 million for services rendered during the receivership of a city housing agency. That amount could drop significantly as the city carries out plans to develop properties, especially in the Beacon Hill area, that remain under the supervision of a federal judge."

HUD, and more particularly the section 8 program, is more responsible for ruining neighborhoods and cities than just about anything else. Section 8 will absolutely destroy a neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteHey Tony, you missed the more important story in the Business Journal that the 8 year Receivership is finally ending...
ReplyDeleteWe have a section 8 home just four doors down. Way too many people live there and they have a huge problem with trash. There's furniture, clothes, tires, household trash and always dozens of full trash bags ALL over the front yard and they're trashing/ruining a once very nice home. All the neighbors have reported the trash problem to the city and the records go back to 2010 when they got their first summons from the city (apparently ignored, as were the subsequent scores of appearances in court)
ReplyDeleteThe Section 8 program has nothing to do with this story. Section 8 is run by the Housing Authority, not the City.
