Actually, trading out the number one pick is a smart move. You end up paying way too much money for the #1 overall pick, and if you can get enough for it, can actually increase the success of the overall draft. Most NFL teams these days consider trading down, unless there is a consensus #1 that is worth making your franchise player out of the gate. No such player this year fits the bill for the Chiefs.
