Luke Bryan and Toby Keith to headline Flatlands Country Music Festival at Sporting Park

(February 8, 2013) – Marquee Events and Sporting Club announced today a new country music and camping festival to be hosted at Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kansas. The event, entitled Flatlands Country Music Festival, will take place from September 12-‐14 with a total capacity of 24,000. Luke Bryan and Toby Keith have been tapped to headline the inaugural festival.

Rand Levy of Marquee is promoting Flatlands in partnership with Sporting Club, the ownership group for Sporting Park. Levy is owner of WE Fest, the largest country music and camping festival in the United States. He and his partners have long been interested in bringing the popular event concept into a new market.

"When we were first approached to help create a new country music festival in Kansas City, we were blown away by the stadium and the potential for this market,” Levy said. “We’re very confident both the artists and our audience will have an incredible experience at Flatlands.”

Bryan, named Favorite Male Country Artist at the 2012 American Music Awards, will headline on Friday, September 13. Reigning Billboard Country Artist of the Decade Keith will be the featured performer the following night. Additional artists confirmed include Darius Rucker, Rodney Atkins, Love and Theft, Thompson Square, Kevin Fowler and J.T. Hodges. The Charlie Daniels Band will headline a free concert on Thursday, September 12 in the Sprint Plaza, an area directly adjacent to the stadium bowl.

"We are thrilled to debut the festival with such an amazing lineup of country music stars,” said Andy Tretiak, Chief Marketing Officer of Sporting Club. “This will be a momentous event in Kansas City and Sporting Park is the perfect venue to serve as host.”

  2. How come they never have concerts for Blacks or Latinos at Sporting KC Park?

9:11 - Because they want the stadium to remain useable after the event, and not burned down and/or full of bullet holes and bodies because someone got "dissed".

Well, don't call me no country singer
Those are poison words to me
'Cause I ain't heard a good country song
    Since 1973.
The King of Bluegrass has died for your sins,
The Whore of Babylon's sleepin' in your bed.
And God's gonna burn down Nashville tonight, boys,
    Jimmy Martin's dead
The great Jimmy Martin's gone dead.
