One Billion Rising Kansas City Flash Dances
Youtube description . . .
"Kansas City's One Billion Rising Dance & Drum Crew took to the streets on February 9, 2013 to spread the word about the worldwide One Billion Rising movement."
Remember, this is an ongoing Kansas City event that hopes to use Valentine's Day as a platform for their issues . . . Visit the FB page . . . And let's conclude with this bit of verse offered by the crew of politically involved ladies . . .
ONE BILLION RISING IS:
A global strike
An invitation to dance
A call to men and women to refuse to participate in the status quo until rape and rape culture ends
An act of solidarity, demonstrating to women the commonality of their struggles and their power in numbers
A refusal to accept violence against women and girls as a given
A new time and a new way of being

WTF
ReplyDeleteFlash mob with 3 women & a man?
ReplyDeleteMay work since these dancers could make most of male population on earth go permanently flaccid just by watching a performance.
ReplyDeletewhy are most anti rape activists totally un-rape-able?
ReplyDeleteThe same reason most women against abortion are women nobody would ever want to fuck in the first place.
ReplyDeleteActually this started on the East Coast and choreography by Ms. Debbie Allen. So, it's finally made it to Kansas City, MO; who is always a day late and dollar short.
ReplyDeleteThis town is such a clown show...the proverbial fat girl that just tries so hard.
ReplyDeleteKC just isn't a Mecca of activism. Let's face it. Ya can give the local activists more publicity than they deserve, and have support for, but just how has Toni Bones gotten weed legalized in Missouri?
ReplyDeleteIt's just a tiny low-income, over-educated midtown culture surrounded by a whole city that pays no attention to them.
At least the mainstream media is onto their hype attempts, and pays them no attention anymore. They learned their lesson. Moreover, ten people with sidewalk signs outside of a Bank of America location isn't news. No matter how much planning and news emails they put into it!
The community just isn't behind them because most people know that small, token protests don't really affect real political change-- even if they DO get thirty seconds of Saturday night 5pm coverage!
Get a JOB. I know, 8 bucks an hour is hardly worth getting dressed for. Make relationships to share housing expenses and be nice so you can keep them from moving out over petty differences.
Aren't your sorry you didn't get a higher education? So many of your classmates did. Your bad! Don't blame society for your low achievement mentality after high school. Fix it. If you have a little brood of suckers depending on you, well too bad for you.
Swallow your ego and do what you have to do to raise them up better than your turned out! If you Don't, then your life is mostly about YOU, right?
Hey, God Bless anyone trying to make a difference!
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Was one dancer wearing Playboy bunny ears on her head?
Unfortunately, while a handful dance at these events.....millions are listening and dancing to Chris Brown and Rhianna.
True dat.

They are right next door to that "barber" who was killed a few days ago. And by "barber" I mean a storefront for a drug dealer.
ReplyDeleteThank you TKC! And yes, we went to 31st and Troost a few days after the barber was killed. This may shock some of your douchebag readers, but people actually go to 31st and Troost every day. Some people drive through there, some walk, some ride busses, and some people even live in the surrounding neighborhoods. We danced.
