When the Four Freedoms Democratic Club would not go along with Calvin's corrupt view of politics, Calvin set up KC Pride working with the last living link to the hunter-gather world of 1930s Democratic corruption in this town.
Both Calvin and Hila worry that an officeholder with strong public support will not do their dirty work when it comes to patronage and contracts. So, they attack and defeat local LGBT leaders through backroom deals and lies.
It is Hila Newman's activities to undermine any LGBT candidate for state office or the Democratic Committee that make's old, nasty bigots like 10:35 PM feel safe in writing things like that. Hila Newman's legacy is tarred with hate.
