Cordell Meeks III announced he is running for Mayor of the Kansas City, Kansas.
Meeks believes that with the help of the friends and neighbors who know him well, he can lead the community to the next level of success in economic development and education
"Now that Google and Cerner have shown the world that Wyandotte County is the place to be, it’s important to leverage that energy, and create even more jobs and more opportunities in all parts of the county," Meeks said during a rally across the street from KCK City Hall..
"I am a small businessman. I work with corporate leaders across the metro and across the country. I have spent years working to improve our community…. Volunteering with many groups… bringing people together to achieve success together. I believe all these experiences have prepared me to become CEO of the Unified Government of Kansas City, Kansas and Wyandotte County." he added.
Meeks is assembling his campaign team and will run an aggressive campaign in the six weeks leading up to the primary election on February 26th.
Cordell Meeks III Biographical Information:
*** Small business owner (CEO of Meeks Multicultural Consulting, a corporate training business)
*** Chairman of UG Human Relations Commission (appointed by Mayor Reardon in 2005 )
*** Member of Law Enforcement Advisory Board
*** Active volunteer with United Way of Wyandotte County, Boys & Girls Clubs of KCK, El Centro, Kansas Children’s Service League and several other community groups.
*** Lifelong KCK resident. 38 years old. Father to 12 -year old Cordell Meeks IV.
*** Third generation University of Kansas graduate
Family History: His grandfather, Cordell Meeks, Sr, was the first African-American district judge in state of Kansas. His father, Cordell Meeks, Jr, was also elected district court judge.
Three generations of Meeks have served on dozens of boards and advisory committees to help guide local local non-profits and civic organizations.
A Cordell Meeks administration will:
*** Promote economic development that benefits all of Wyandotte County by leveraging the arrival of Google and Cerner to bring in even more jobs.
*** Produce balanced budgets that keep property taxes low while serving the needs of all citizens.
