National School Choice Week Event
Education is an important issue and nowhere more so than in Kansas City.
For decades, those with means have expressed school choice with their feet, moving across the state line or contributing to the city's thriving private school community. It is in recognition of this--and the need for greater parental choice that the Show-Me Institute has partnered with National School Choice Week.
Where: Sprint Festival Plaza at Union Station
When: Monday, January 28 from 4:30PM to 6:30PM
Speakers include:
· James Shuls, Show-Me Institute
· Vonelle Middleton, CEO, Hope Academy Charter School of Kansas City
· Douglas Thaman, Executive Director, Missouri Charter Public Schools Association
· Joe Trippi, FOX News Contributor and Democratic Strategist
· Lisa Graham Keegan, Education Reform Pioneer
· Lisa Snell, Education Director, Reason Foundation
· Andrew Campanella, National School Choice Week President

I take it that it would be a "choice" of what public school to send your kids to? As long as your tax dollars stay in the system thats the choice?
ReplyDeleteTony the "choice" they want is to send kids who look like you did as a child somewhere nowhere near their kids.
ReplyDeleteIt this the problem that Cathy Jolly is being hired by the County to fix?
ReplyDeleteThis is all about charter schools, that may operate well but usually operate less well than the current public school system. The ones that operate well have long, long waiting lists and don't need to take the time to work with the children who either come from a troubled system or who live lives so troubled that school is not a priority to the family. A charter-only system will leave the same kids out in the cold who are out in the cold right now. John McCain's education advisor is on the list of speakers.
ReplyDeleteI am fairly new to this blog, can someone explain the Cathy Jolly controversy?
ReplyDeleteTony, you should put out a cast of characters so all of your readers know who's who.
Let Glazer walk 'em to school ?
ReplyDeleteOh a party then get Glazer to handle the drugs he is an expert on drugs.
ReplyDeleteCathy Jolly is hated because she traded sex for position in city government.
ReplyDeleteSponsored by right wing nutjobs. Stay away.
ReplyDeleteWho says 11:94? So you want youe kids going to the KCSD?
DeleteWhat would Gunnar Hand say? He could help Glazer on the drugs issue.
ReplyDeleteAll you really need to know is...Byron is the jealous brother of the former mayor of Kansas City who is a hillbilly liberal male prostitute and likes to come to TKC to spout his ignorance and then get kicked in the balls, which he seems to relish since he comes here often.
ReplyDeleteCurious to see the charter school schill job out in force. KCPS is a failed disease of a school system. However, charter schools are equally fail. How many have closed just in the last two years, right in middle of the school year? How many abandoned charter schools litter the city?
ReplyDeleteWhat are the test scores for charter school kids? I'll save you the trouble. They're just as shitty if not worse.
Charter schools are nothing more than a public payoff to private business. Any these "school choice" rallys are little more than a bought and paid for dog and pony show to convince you otherwise.
If they worked, I'd be all for it. But the volume of evidence is against charter schools doing any better than public schools.
A friend of mine is helping to organize this one. I think they're doing the right thing by making it more of a party than a rally Tony. But I know how you lean to the controversial. Lol!

ReplyDeleteThis is one of the schools being featured on the program.
hey who are the models pictured on this story? I'd love to have 3some with them. Craig G. any ideas
ReplyDelete?
Food and drinks are cool, but Gunnar Hand wonders if the event will be a pot-friendly environment.
ReplyDeleteGunnar just needs enough to feed his munchies.. He'll toke up before the event.
ReplyDeleteyeah tkc, who are these models? Don't think I've ever come across them on your blog before...
