THE KANSAS CITY FIGHT AGAINST THE DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN CONTINUES!!!

Just a few notes on Kansas City's impending toy train disaster.

THE OC HATES THEIR TOY TRAIN!!!

And here's another reminder about Streetcar accidents that are more common than locals suspect.

Best of all . . .

CHECK THIS PERSPECTIVE ABOUT KANSAS CITY BORROWING FOR MISPLACED TOY TRAIN STREETCAR PRIORITIES!!!

Actually, a TOP ECHELON KANSAS CITY INSIDER send this link our way . . .

"We have forgotten the basic law that every credit boom . . . contains the seeds of its own demise."

"Reckless credit expansion spurs unsustainable growth and results in the misallocation of capital.” In other words, money gets thrown at projects and investments that can’t ever pay for themselves."

Sadly, this quote not only sums up the state of Kansas City's local government but also the economic crisis confronting the global economy right now.

DEVELOPING . . .

  1. The incredible urge to spend other people's money on cool stuff that puts cash in your developer-friends' pockets while creating a name for yourself is almost uncontrollably intoxicating. The fact that our leader-grifters are doing it at a time when our water infrastructure is suffering from a 40 deficit in basic maintenance is unforgivable. Off with their heads!

  2. Oh build the fucking thing you know somehow that retard Mayor will pull it off. Least if he does maybe the taxpayers can figure out how, on its initial run, to maybe have the satisfaction of seeing the damn thing run over Sly and the city be done with him.

We have no one to blame but ourselves.

We, the citizens, are the ones who (mistakenly) put these people in office. When the next elections come around it will be up to us, the citizens, to replace them.

    Cleaver gave everything away.
    Barnes gave everything away.
Now James is giving everything away.

Ironically, the Mayor we all loved to trash-talk, the Funk, was the only one who had an ounce of business sense. Too bad he had no people skills and self-imploded.

  4. Funkhouser almost single handledly killed the momentum in this city with his dour, disfunctional policies and presence.

If we hadn't suffered that fool, KC would be poised to pounce. Instead, we are playing catch-up for another decade.

  5. LOL, the article cites Tampa, the lone instance of a modern streetcar sytem in the US that is underperforming.

What about the 15 other examples of successful systems in cities that are smaller and more spread out than KC.

    Propaganda.

Meanwhile, Village West implements a TDD and how many people got to vote on that. I live in KCK and I sure as fuck didn't. Where is the shrieking indignation now?

  6. This is worse than giving everything away. This is going to be a sucking sound for the next 20 years and will eventually suck money out of the rest of KC.

  7. This is what is going to happen here too:

KC Has a history of massive water main breaks.
