The little girl who was accidentally shot on 1/10/2013 at 105th and Monroe died on 1/17/2013. Her name is Trinity Ross, DOB 1/7/2009.

And while a great deal of debate still exists on gun control . . . Deaths of children continue to mount as 2nd Amendment advocates fight for the rights of responsible gun owners but don't really have an answer for people who are dangerous and irresponsible but also legally own guns.

ReplyDeleteAny parent or guardian that allows a child to come into possession of a loaded handgun deserves a 10 year mandatory sentence. Gun ownership comes with responsibilities and obligations.

The Second Amendment declares by implication that if the "MILITIA" is not "WELL REGULATED" by "PEOPLE" keeping and bearing arms, the "MILITIA" becomes a threat to the "SECURITY OF A FREE STATE."
The "MILITIA" has no "RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS" in the Second Amendment, rather it is only "THE RIGHT OF THE ""PEOPLE"" TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS (that) SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."
Gun control starts with the individual (not the government), and that responsibility includes not allowing your firearms into the hands of unauthorized users. This parent is a negligent firearms owner and directly caused the death of a child, and will hopefully face criminal charges.

Being a gun owner and believing in reasonable safeguards for those who chose not to own them has long been my position. Reasoned owners SECURE their weapons and hold owners that do not responsible.
