  1. Funny thing about Huffington article. The 2 union officials they quoted are neither public sector unions! So a law is asking unions to be transparent, now this is a good law. Missouri needs to become a right to work state ASAP.

  2. Unions are corrupt funnels of money for the Libtard Demoncrats and should be gutted.

Public sector unions should be outlawed altogether.

Time to shutter the corrupt unions and their money funneling to the scumbag Democrat criminals.

  4. You fucking idiots. You obviously hate weekends, 40 hour work weeks, a livable wage, safe working environments, and healthcare, so keep bashing the unions that fought to get them for you.

  7. Unions are for weak-minded sheep who couldn't possibly fend for themselves. They need that parasitic nanny to tell them what's what.

  8. Your fascination with sheep is really telling. Do you make them wear lipstick when you fuck them?

  9. Unions are a product of communist thinking, packaged as a collectivist narcotic for the stupid to embrace and the ignorant to administer for the power elitists who rob both the workers and the companies.

  10. That's a lot of big words that say nothing. Unions protect workers from the abuses of greedy corporations. I'm sure the Bain Capitals of the world would love to get rid of unions, so we can be like India or China. Just a bunch of serfs providing cheap labor to the "power elitists" - corporate boards and officers.

  11. Like it or not, unions are an essential part of any capitalist system. Organized labor functions as a check to the system of organized ownership. No one proposes that business associations, chambers of commerce, farm coalitions, etc. be prohibited from engaging in politics, or that corporations should be prohibited from political activity, despite the fact that corporations are, by definition, collective entities, not individuals.

Unchecked capitalism inevitably leads to monopoly.

And, the anti-union or anti-public sector union howlers should probably revisit the Bill of Rights, particularly the 1st Amendment. The Missouri constitution also explicitly grant the right of workers to organize and bargain.

Right to work laws are centrally unfair, their intent is to gut unions who have mutually agreed-upon contracts with private employers to hire only union workers. Right to work is a direct interference in the free market, and an affront to the sanctity of the contract and to the rights of of the parties to a contract. They represent an egregious and unnecessary intrusion of government regulation into private enterprise.

What right to work laws actually do is compel unions to represent and negotiate benefits for all employees, regardless of union membership. So an employee can opt out of union dues or fees, but demand union representation during discipline and demand all benefits of a union-negotiated contract.

Know your facts before you trot out your red-bait bogeymen, next time.

  12. What I hate is the taxpayers going through an economic crisis while being forced to pay for these government employee unions. If there had ever been any real government accountability the creeps that agreed to these fat union deals would have their feet in the fire.

  13. Read the article, people:

KS is already a right-to-work state. Hasn't really helped their floundering economy.

The proposed law would prohibit public employees from CHOOSING to have auto-matic payroll deductions of THEIR OWN MONEY for 100% VOLUNTARY political contributions.

That's like the government saying we won't allow direct deposit except to banks of our choosing...

Union members have long carried the weight to protect all workers rights. It isn't moral, ethical or acceptable to allow your employer to tell you where to send your money. what if your employer decides they don't like your charity of choice and bans direct deposits to religiously-affiliated charities? Wonder how the right wing "perpetual victims" would feel about that?

  14. 11:32 You don't understand the basics of our economy. It is the workers that are also the spenders. Paying people a livable wage, and encouraging the growth of the middle class, will also encourage economic growth. Our economy is floundering in direct correlation to the squeezing of the middle class and greater income disparity than our country has seen in generations. We are becoming the wealthy class and the working poor. That does not create a healthy, growing economy. You union bashing folks are advocating for that disparity, which in the end, only benefits the wealthiest few percent, to the detriment of the rest of us. Unless you are super rich, you are arguing against your own economic benefit.

  15. The propaganda at 11:05, 11:47 and 11:32 is stunningly ignorant, aimed at the stunningly ignorant. That's what unions do.

  19. hey, 12:38... The middle class is an illusion created by artificial US post WW II prosperity and now that illusion is fading and reality is rearing its ugly head! You better get rich QUICK or learn how to live POOR!

  20. The middle class was a reality for several generations of Americans, until Republican policies essentially made the corporations our masters. You may want to play along with them, but I fight back. So do unions.

    ReplyDelete
  21. lolz @ 2:42 delusion of a chicken in every pot.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yeah, I'm so delusional that I think our nice corporate masters would have given us safe work environments, health care, 40 hour weeks, weekends, etc. etc. without unions forcing them to. Enjoy living in the third world that America is becoming once you wipe the unions out.
